Interesting entry to Mexico at CDMX airport

About an hour before our plane arrived, we normally would get handed an imigration form to fill out (FMM) this never happened. After deplaning with our carry-ons, we were waived past the folks in line waiting their turn to go to the dozen kiosks with migracion officers, the usual stuff. Instead, the officer pointed to 4 glass enclosures and said "go to the machines". each glass enclosure was about 3' wide and 6' long with doors at each end. You placed your passport on a scanner and soon the door opened allowing you to enter the enclosure. Inside was a screen that had your face on it and you had to move around until your face was in a yellow rectangle.
Once you figured that out and the computer decided it was you, the rear door opened and you left for ground transportation. That was it, no red or green light or passport stamped etc. However, just before the rear door opened, a paper about the size of typical store receipt printed with a QR code on it and instruction that this must be scanned, the Digital FMM downloaded and ready (Filled out?) when you exit the country or you would not be allowed to leave. Try as we might we were never able to get to the digital FMM via the QR code system. I presume at the airport someone will help us.
Anyone else go thru this?

EDIT: Just saw on the Dept of State website that this is a test program at some Mexico airports and Mex's website has not been updated - they say to check with airline carrier when leaving.

Thanks for the update on that. What airport and airline did you fly?

Look forward to hearing about your trip. We are in early planning stages ourselves. Be safe!

The 'funny' part was when we arrived at the airport for coming home, the airline employees just laughed and said this new thing was not working and go thru security and board the flight home. In essence, the slip of paper was the FMM, it had the entry dates, was good for 180 days and had a stamp line with a long code for the stamp. This was at MEX. I suppose at some point they will get the bugs worked out.
