Flying to Mexico with permanent residency
Hi everyone.
I'm going to book my next trip to Mexico. I was wondering how I do it and not be charged for a visitor visa since I do now have permanent residency

You have to ask the customer service dept. of the airline- some do it differently than others. When I used to fly Alaska Airlines, they had forms at
the boarding gate you filled out and then within a few weeks there was a reimbursement for the tourist tax to my credit card. But with Westjet, I have
to phone them to make the booking, rather than do it online (altho I find the flight I want online first , of course) and they deduct the tourist tax
from the payment.
And with another airline, I had to send a copy of my permanent residency card to their refunds dept. after the flight to get reimbursed.

Not anymore as they have done away with all of that...a couple years back. They no longer charge for any tourist entry.

They certainly do. The flight I took from Canada to Mexico in Sept. had tourist tax added to the cost of the flight. Where did you get the idea that
Mexico no longer charges tourist tax?

Also, you must enter Mex thru the citizen (national) gate, not the tourist. I made that mistake once and was politely but firmly re-routed.

No, that isn't a "must", that's just what happened to you at one airport with one agent on one day. I go through the non-citizen line at the Puerto
Vallarta airport all the time and no immigration officer has ever directed me to do otherwise.

I was not clear, I do the same thing because SWMBO does not have a Permanent Residence card. I happened to show the card one time and I was directed
to the other line. Do you show them your card in PVR?
