Wornout's 2023-2024 Desert Runs Thread [12-6-23 Run added, scroll down, below]
Most every week, during the cooler months, Baja Nomad Wornout, leads day trips (some call them 'runs') out from El Dorado Ranch, San Felipe, into the
surrounding desert or coastline. All are welcome who can travel in 4x4s, dune buggies, and side-by-sides. Warren (Wornout) makes a Relive map video
that includes photos and sometimes short videos of the trips, which include a lunch stop.
I have been sharing his Relive links and some photos here on Nomad as they show some of the interesting Baja country and people having fun as they
interact with the land.

First Ride This Season Will Be Wednesday, October 18, 2023
We will leave from the tires, where the powerline crosses the paved Saltido Road, at 9:00 am.
This will be the first ride of the season so it will be an easy one. We will head out info Valley Chico to west valley road. We will do the same run
as the first run of last season and that is to head up to Tulare and Tulane canyons, to look around, then head to Cajon Canyon for lunch.

NOV. 1 Run Notice from Wornout
This week we will meet at the Brewery parking lot, at 9:00 am, and head north on Hwy 5 to the last house across the Hwy from 2 poles. We will head
east to the shoreline road that takes us to the Salt Quarry/Ponds by the military checkpoint. After a drive through the Quarry, we will head to Hwy 5
and head home.

PREVIEW for Nov. 8 Run
From Wornout:
This week we will meet at the tires at 9:00 am. We will head west and swing by the Bee Hive. After that, we will continue west towards west valley
road. Before west valley road, we will look for the Arroyo that runs south down the middle of the valley. Four wheel drive suggested for this run,
especially the first part where there may be a little off trail traveling.

11-13-23 message from Wornout:
This week we will be going to Esperanza Canyon. Esperanza is the last canyon before the windmills on Hwy 3.
We will meet at the tires at 9:00 am and head out Zoo road and make a right turn at Morelia Junction. From there we will head down the middle of the
dry lake until we make a left turn on to the road that leads to Esperanza. See you Wednesday.

Sorry to go off topic although not much so, but early this morning before dawn, the 2023 Rip to Cabo popped up on my youtube page.
I have been checking my Cox ESPN channels for a while ever since David put the notice here and it was never broadcasted.
The Youtube version had hardly any commercials and those that did were only a few seconds long. The program lasted over an hour without the bs of TV
commercials.
Now back to the topic at hand.

The show I mentioned in the Off Roading forum was 'Trail of Missions'. It was listed as 'World of X Games', at 2 pm, but the broadcast began at 2:20
PST as the game previous ran long.
I was surprised it came up on YouTube as soon as it did.
Was Rip to Cabo also on recently or am I just messed up on pain meds now, and not following, lol!?

May the good graces continue to treat you well. Nomad needs you well.
The latest Rip to Cabo on you tube was all Baja with barely any commercials.
I will keep checking my ESPN channels for the World of X games like I do anyway in the chance it will cover off roading, surfing, and the Trail of
Missions you mentioned.
Your many contributions here show the passion for Baja many us share in our own ways. Take care and keep the posts coming, even if mostly from your
armchair and hopefully back on the road when possible.
The season of giving thanks is for everyone to appreciate and for their own reasons. Peace, love, and fish tacos.

David, thanks. I watched the Trail of Missions last night. I always look for some spots I made it to in years past. Most trails I would never consider
trying myself, nor have the vehicle to do it in.
A friend in Pescadero years ago, decades ago, gave a me ride in his souped up off road truck through some ejido land that had me screaming from my
seat. What a ride that was.
I got a small taste of what these madmen do all the time. Madness can be a good thing within reason. haha

This weeks run plan from Wornout
This week's run will be to Calamity Canyon Overlook. We will meet at the Brewery Parking lot, at 9:00 am, and head north on Hwy 5. Calamity Canyon
is the last canyon before the military stop. We will then head west into the canyon. Once we are a half a dozen or so miles in the canyon, we will
turn left and head to the overlook. Hopefully the last storm has not cut off our route. We will have lunch at the overlook and then head back to San
Felipe the same way we go there. We will not be going all the way through Calamity Canyon as the Baja 1000 went through there last week and I am sure
the road would be a challenge.
