MUG SHOTS Revisited. Same thread, new name

 Pages:  1

vgabndo - 8-1-2006 at 10:36 PM

Since all the good work Doug did getting this site so nifty and fast, we lost a lot of photos. Let's give him a hand by re-posting or submitting new images; otherwise he'll have to spend a LOT of time restoring this thread by adding back our pictures one at a time. I'll start it again.

MY ERROR...DOUG SAYS THIS WON'T WORK. WHEN THE OLD PICTURES ARE RESTORED, THEY WILL OVER-WRITE ALL THE REPLACEMENTS.

We met Debra (Travel Pearl) for the first time in July, 2001 when she risked common sense and rode the train from Washington to meet strangers in Oceanside!

The pilot voyage of a new Baja 4WD tour service was to begin and Debra was one of the passengers... others included El Camote, Desert Rat, David Eidell, plus Mike Humfreville Jr. (on much of the trip), my kids and I drove the van... My partner in the business venture was Amo Pescar and we began by attending M's first BBBB party at Cielito Lindo... Mike and Mary Ann Humfreville followed along with us in P.O.T. (poor old truck) from Cielito Lindo to L.A. Bay to Gonzaga Bay to San Felipe. It was a great experience!

The van was used again for M's BBBB-2 in Guadalupe Canyon in November, '01... but Amo had decided against the tour company following 9-11.

See photos at http://vivabaja.com/van1

Here is Debra at Cielito Lindo...

Here is the "About us" section of our website. Probably more than you wanted to know.

Jim and Judy Tolbert have lived and traveled extensively throughout the US and the world from Europe, Latin America, and Asia to the Caribbean. They operated a successful pinball and jukebox business in Berkeley, CA for over 28 years. Jim previously worked in publishing and retail book sales while Judy spent her youth sailing the seven seas.

Here is the story of how they wound up in Baja:

Baja Books and Maps is a small Baja based company borne from the love we have for the Baja peninsula and books. We first visited Baja in the 1980?s at the invitation of a friend who was setting up a restaurant in San Jose del Cabo. At that time San Jose and all of Los Cabos was a much more isolated outpost than it is today.

We fell in love with Baja and continued to visit whenever we could. In the 1990?s we bought a lot outside of San Jose in the small barrio of La Choya. A few years later, we built our small home. In the Fall of 2000, we chucked the big city life in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved fulltime to Baja. For the first couple of years, we relaxed and enjoyed the laid back life style of M?xico.

In 2002, we hit the road vowing to explore as much of the peninsula as we could. While on the road (and off) we discovered that people were hungry for any information they could get their hands on about Baja and decided that there was a need for a good web site for books on Baja and that is where you find yourself today.

For those of us who have grown to love Baja, there is no finer place on earth. For those of you who want to learn more about this fabulous land, you have come to the right place.

If there is a book that you are interested in and do not see, please use the "suggest a title" area so it can be included in our collection.

How do you get two photos on the same post? I select the first, go to browse for the second, select it, and when I post only the second photo appears.

Do they both need to have a combined size of under 50kb?

You have to have the photos on a web site such as Ofoto or Kodak or something, then you link to the photo using the 7th button from the left above this panel where you type. You can then link as many as you like and they don't have to be under 50kb to post.
