Adios to a popular Nomad, 'GeoRock' (Suzanne)

GeoRock's daughter has asked me to inform her Baja friends that Suzanne passed away yesterday..

We first met Suzanne and her husband, Pete, at my Viva Baja #4 event in 2003.
They quickly became part of our Baja family by attending many functions and leased a spot in Doc's Camp Gecko, L.A. Bay.

Suzanne was a geologist (thus her handle, 'GeoRock') and she would share here knowledge of rocks on our Baja Nomad group trips... She also was one of the tequila tasting experts at the Pyramid Resort events.

Her last post on Nomad was in July 2011. This was about the time (or soon after) that she suffered mini-strokes due to untreated high blood pressure. In 2020 she was hit with vascular dementia and her memory was vanishing.

She was so full of life and had so many plans that would not be fulfilled. Camping and four-wheeling were her and Pete's major passion and they did that often and invited friends to join them.

Here are some photos...

Condolences to her family. We enjoyed the few times we crossed paths with her. She had a funny little laugh and was seemingly always smiling and in a good mood. We shared a fondness for rocks and tequila.

Once she called me out of the blue to let me know that her family had 5 or 6 nights reserved at Yosemite that she could not use. We accepted the generous offer and had our camper packed up the next day and headed out. It was the first time I had ever camped in the valley and it was magical. Forever grateful.

RIP Georock.
