Baja weather

Made it thru the 2024 hurricane season w/o any drama
Now the Santa Anas are blowing in socal and the north winds are screaming in baja (though ending today, but returning next week, says NOAA).
Drought in socal and north baja? Haven't had a fall rain, and it is almost winter....
Global warming comes with good and bad...

Unlike Baja, predicted wind has not happened in Palm Springs. High clouds and cool temps in the low 70s for the next week.

Todos Santos in the low 80s next 10 days while Cabo is high 70s.

In Marina del Rey for 3 days. 70's with little wind. Perfect.

Got about 60 inches of snow at our place in Colorado the last month. The dogs love it. It's beautiful after a snow with generally clear skies and bright sunshine.

Shovel and traction boards tied to a fancy rack out there for all to see. That’s so fire. What’s your wardrobe for that massive lifestyle? Is it cowboy boots and carhart? Or patagonia puffy coat?:lol:

Geez everyone knows snow calls for Sorrel's and REI or LL Bean coats. Or, North Face. Nice photo.

Despite the misinformation in the OP it did in fact rain in Marina del Rey today.

Obviously lots at play here, but right now the main driver appears to be the La Nina setup in the Pacific. Its been in place for 8+ months now and the "atmospheric coupling" has had time to materialize for the winter. In fact, it was at play during the summer enough to deter any major hurricanes.

Classic La Nina ocean temperature pattern. Colder than normal waters through Socal bight all the way down the peninsula...

This year was the driest I've seen the desert in quite some time. Most the livestock I came upon were much thinner than normal.

It was based on a simple verity: if a locale had been transformational for you, and you had put the hard yards in to get there and to learn it, to know it, why in gods name would you broadcast the news, thus ruining the future experience not only for yourself, but for future adventurers?

I think your declaration of la nina is premature. NOAA says we are in ENSO neutral condition right now, but they are predicting development of la nina condition over the next two months.

Enjoy the noaa science while you can, DOGE buffoons are proposing to eliminate NOAA…

In San Felipe, we have not seen a drop of rain in 10 months. The water situation here is as bad as in the Cabo/La Paz area—except that we don't have the nonstop building boom here.

You're right, for some reason it is not being declared a La Nina, but from my experience, all signs are pointing to it. Nino 3.4 Index has been negative since June. This graph only goes back to September, but shows ~ -1C during these last few months.

From what I've gathered, you have a lot of time in SoCal and Baja, and sometimes "you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows". Sure feels like classic La Nina this year to me. Cold, dry, no precipitation
