GPS to Tecate border station

Yesterday was probably my 100th trip across at Tecate
Cruising up from a week in Guadalupe I set my GPS display to 'home' and when I got to Tecate it told me to take a quick left up to the border road.
My wife said 'better follow the instruction' and I replied ' ain't gonna work' but I figured maybe they had improved the access point so away we went.
Of course we ended up just a block from the gate but the historic 3' block fence still stands.
Quick about face and back to the tried and true router I always have taken. The GPS continually ragged on me to go back and try their route which I ignored.
The happy ending, at 8:30 a.m. the wait was a whole 8 minutes and onward to Pheonix.
It is a shame that newcomers are given this bad info- we old timers obviously know better

I usually cross at Mexicali west, and my Garmin has been a 100% failure getting the right route! To be fair, there seems to be a new detour every time I cross, which is only once or twice a year.

I leave it on anyway because it is useful calling out the street names and showing what is coming up, but it can't be trusted to even get all the one way streets right, let alone the latest changes.

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!
