house in SF
Does anyone have any experience renting a house, condo in or close by San Felipe ? Close by meaning 1-3 miles. I'm looking for something on the beach
1 or 2 bedrooms. Family oriented. If you could please email me good or bad .

Hi Paul, did you check out the San Felipe web site... they have lots of links to services in SF. It is in my web site's Links to Great Baja Web
Sites... otherwise try www.sanfelipe.com.mx I do know about a couple of homes for rent at Laguna Percebu. It is 20 miles south... but a nicer beach and right across the
lagoon from the north tip of Shell Island!

Thanks for the reply David. Yes I checked out the SF website and sent emails to those who rent houses/condos. I'm after some first hand experiences
from people who have rented before. There is so many to choose from and I've never rented in SF before. Thanks Paul

The houses are close together. Percebu is a ghost town in the winter.
The house we stayed in had an old old trailer next to it. Junk
Some are not front row but behind other houses, so don't count on a view like the website.
Cold...no heat. We had a fire but it didn't help much too many leaky windows and doors. You can't get good fire wood in San Felipe so bring your own.
The houses are on the wrong side of an estuary and if it rains you will be stuck.
I almost forgot...dog hair everywhere..and stunk like dogs.
Had to take a couple of dog cages outside.
Oh yea... water beds..no heaters ...cold.
Oh yeh...No oil for the lamps and the hot water heater I had to light myself.
Oh yeh... the batteries only held a charge for about two hours at nite.
Oh yeh...Susan is still whining about this trip as the price is not a bargin.

Tunaeater....look elsewhere for a place.
Had the greatest shrimp dinner at the lighthouse restraunt. The owner has been in San Felipe a long time. The shrimp were as big a lobsters.

It was not a good experience.
We were even going to just leave and check in the the nice hotel.
An experience we will not forget.

Bob and Susan - It could have been worse.
The people who own that "old trailer" might have been there.
It would have changed a poor experience into a visit to Hell.
They come down only to party, usually with 15 or so of their
friends. Pitch tents all over the front yard, build huge
bonfires, drink and scream until the wee hours. Object and
you may need a visit to St. James Infirmary. It is strictly
a blow-out destination for the owners. Fun to be next to.
As far as the rental goes, it's the only one Franco and Lauren
have at that end of the camp. It was their original house.
Their other rentals are at the North end, 4 round houses all
together and they live onsite so things remain under control.
They've been trying to sell it for quite awhile now because
of (among other things) the difficulty of maintaining control.
The asking price of $85K hasn't attracted much interest.
The only thing I wonder about is the statement that Percebu is
a Ghost Town during the Winter. Most of the residents, other than
me and a few others, start returning in October and remain there
in large numbers through May.

House in San Felipe
If you want room service & A/C - stay in S.F. If you want living on the beach and be able to get out of the wind - rent one of the Cremescoli's
houses. It beats sleeping in a tent! This environment is not for everyone.

For a long-term or multi-month rental, wouldn?t it be best to just hang out in S.F. and see what you can find? I?m sure that there must be a decent
trailer/house for rent close to el centro. If the weather is good, you can camp until something good turns up. I have found that arrangements made
over the internet tend to be a little pricey. There is no way to assess the situation over the net or phone. I wish it was me who was trying to find a
place to rent in S.F. I like it there.
