Many years ago we would drive over to Half Moon Bay, Buy a crab and the store there sold Elephant beer one six pack for the two of us, we'll never forget those Sunday afternoons.

NEWS FLASH FOR MULEGE- Sauel's tienda has 10 12-packs in stock in the back right hand corner of the stoor...ya gotta hunt fer it. A real highlight of the Holiday Season for us. Also, that tiny taco restaurant (read taco stand) called Danys in Mulege serves it at about 15 pesos/per. What a great beer.

I believe it is or is similar to a" bock" beer traditionaly made at the end of the year. Remember that european brewmasters that immigrated to Mexico in the 1860's began training Mexicans in the art of beer brewing. Bock beer is the dark "dregs" from near the bottom of the barrel or vat and is typical of year end limited end of the run beer. Hearty and flavorful.

You really ought to scroll through a whole thread before jumping in. We've already disproven that "urban legend" theory.

I was just checking to see if you guys were really reading the thread. YOU WERE! No Ill admit I fell to the same uban legend as may others have. I did however qualify my ignorant statement with "I believe". MY bad . The part about the brewmasters" back in the day" IS correct cause i read it on the back of a bottle of cerveza a loooong time ago.

I see that David K had a "bad-beer experience"------

-----as I am sure we all have, at one time or another-----

However, so as not to discourage anybody from trying NEGRA MODELO---I believe that NEGRA MODELO is the BEST BEER I have ever tasted-----so there!!! But then I have never drank 12 of them at one sitting.
