"Tampering with a passport is punishable by 25 years in prison."

What's up unbob, I don't think my personal data is worth 25 years in prison. I wish I was that interesting.

These are federal felonies.
Penalties are: (these are MAX)

10 years (for a first offense if not tied to terrorism or drug trafficking)
15 years for fraud with other criminal links
20 years for fraud related to drug trafficking
25 years for fraud related to international terrorism

i wouldn't crush it with a hammer...
i like to cross the border fast!!!
but....
10 years in a federal prison....let's see....

just think...your "cell partner" asks "why are you in"....
answer "I crushed my passport with a hammer"

guess what happens to YOU!!!

Worried about Big Bro ?

Once the new Passports become common I'm sure that some enterprising vendor will bring out a metallic holder for passports that will defeat the RFID. All of YOU people who are consumed with concern that the Feds may know Where you're at or Where you've been can rush out and make the vendor wealthy.

In the meantime, follow TdB's lead and carry aluminum foil.

So far, at least in the last Thirty years or more, I haven't been anywhere or done anything that I'm worried the Government will find out about. I guess I just lead a dull life.

No Worries, Mate !

I have Nothing to Worry about Because I'm not doing ANYTHING that would cause me to fear the Government's knowledge.

Since your theory is that I, and by extension those honest and upstanding citizens like me, have nothing to fear as long a we have a Conservative Government, the logical conclusion would be that we DO have reason to worry if the Liberals take charge. Thanks for the confirmation.

Personally, I am glad the government knows where the people are that are worried about the government knowing where they are. I sleep easier at night.

I would also like to be around when someone with a defeated RFI passport chip tries to go somewhere out or back in to the USA. They will be the ones screaming the most as their silly butts are being dragged off for 25 years of early retirement.

I have a greater fear and worry for my personal safety and security since that numbskull and his administration have been in power. Evidently, President Ford - rest his soul - felt the same way too.

Yeah, that's what that last guy from Canada that came thru a USA airport in NY thought before they shipped him off to be tortured in Syria. A year later...opps sorry we made a mistake.......:O

It seems some posters here are missing the point - this isn't about "hiding" our personal data from the govt - it's about preventing identity theft by criminals!
