Several Baja Web Sites off line Saturday, but are back Sunday!

Okay amigos, after seeing some posts that photos I posted of missions last night were off line this morning... I discovered my site (VivaBaja.com) and my host's site (BajaLinks.com) was off line... A server failure...

My host also hosts many other Baja web sites (GrahamMackintosh.com, BajaMagic.com, etc.), so don't worry... they will be off line just temporarily.

Here is the email I just got explaining what happened:

========================================================

YES WE had a massive Power outage in Torrance.

Telephone into the building circuits were fried.

Phone company got working at 9 AM

SERVERS are still down and may be for quite a while as the voltage condition took out 3 Servers.

So may be 24 hours for operation..

=======================================================

Lucky that Doug's server is not affected and we have Baja Nomad this morning! But, these things can happen... Don't panic!!:light::bounce::yes:

you'd think these "servers" would have a battery backup system so low voltage will not "take them out"

most computers with databases that contain important data have a battery back up system

and some with back-up generators:saint::saint:

some do have that. but are you willing to pay the extra for that service? the grid in the USA is about 99.99999 percent on line and even some hospitals don't bother to back up anything except the O.R.

Yah, it's inconvenient... but not life or death!

It's just I recently linked to several photos at vivabaja.com to share, and the next day the site is down! :lol:

I just checked and some are back up (Ann Hazard's BajaMagic and Graham's site)... But, Dick's BajaLinks.com and mine are still down... I am sure it will be repaired soon!
