earthquake correspondant back on duty in Asuncion

Shari here live from the quake zone... I’m back on the job of reporting earthquake activity. It’s been fairly quiet here over the last month. Only the occasional rumble and usually at night or before the dawn so you never know if you are dreaming it or not. Morning conversations always include “did ya feel the temblor (tremor) last night?” but everyone’s lives were pretty much back to normal...we all unpacked our emergency bags, put stuff back on shelves, although we still turn the propane off at night just in case. Just yesterday my cuñada was saying “ I kinda miss the quakes and would like to feel one again” Be careful what you wish for.... At 5:00 there was a pretty big quake that definitely woke us all up, it lasted a long time and was nasty. As we were all sitting up in bed commenting on how bad it was, another big boy hit which made us all scramble into the closest clothes to be ready to run out. It continued to tremble for the next hour and a half nearly constantly so we got our emergency bag and our truck ready for evacuation. Nobody went to work, the stores that have cement roofs are closed as well as the schools.....again...and some families have left town already and at 6:00 there was a long line of cars getting gas at the cooperative. I tried several times to get on the computer to report the latest news in Nomadland but each time I sat down there was another quake....so I decided to work outside today, laundry, watering...gardening, raking...and every time I came in the house for something, the shaking would begin...kinda poltergeist like!! This bad boy has taken on human characteristics....you really feel like it lurks and waits till you are in the shower or the outhouse or making a bloody mary and WHAM...the military say if there is another big one this afternoon they are evacuating the village again so if ya don’t hear from me, that’s what happened. When I finally worked up the courage to go online, the power went out....so here I am typing fast before anything else happens.
Our RV guest Nomad Jorgie heeded my advice and brought a VHF radio so we are always in contact...so when I called him at 5:30 this morning to ask if he was OK, he says “God she was good this morning!!!” LOL. A few days ago when there was a tremor in the night he thought somebody was driving by with their stereo blasting out too much bass. Jorge has been overseeing putting in our new septic system here and enjoying the beach. Luckily the road was in good shape when he brought his 30” Coachman in last week and he loves to watch the sea lions, dolphins and whales pass from his coach. Luckily Jorgie brought us lots of liquid tranquilizers which comes in handy in these stressful situations(especially when they prohibit beer sales!!) Sirena has returned to school in Guerrero Negro so she can’t make fun of my screaming and dashing out the door! Stay tuned for tomorrow’s report....LIVE...from Asuncion quake zone!!!

Hey there quake fans...well we had a long nasty night of rockin, rollin and boomin all night long, I counted around 12 during the night. Most folks slept in their cars or in tents and Jorgie and Old Hippie slept through it all in their campers...we should have been so lucky. But today has been pretty quiet, only a bit of "thunder" ecxept at 3:20 when we had a jolter. Its interesting only the one yesterday morning registered on the websites...last night at 9:45 was another nasty but it didnt seem to register. We hope it settles down cause I really need a shower but am nervous to get naked in our shower cause I just know that is what the "Bad Boy" is waiting for.

This is the third time it actually showed up on the map (that I have seen). Each time it is out in the ocean south of Asuncion and not under Asuncion. Weird that other villages don't feel it or had the damage that Asuncion has had!

It would be great to hear an explanation... Seems a new volcano in the making to me???

When we were at Shari's, I woke one night thinking the dogs were moving around in the truck and shaking the camper. Instead of back and forth, the camper seemed to be going up and down ! The dogs were not moving !

We climbed to the tower where the siesmic equipment is housed and turned their solar panel back to the sun. The wind or shaking had broken it loose and it was face down when we found it. Maybe not enoigh kite string or Elmer's glue

I hear that some more scientists from DF showed up yesterday so maybe there will be another public meeting...or maybe NOT! Yeah that's interesting about where they say the movement came from...that's where the underwater volcano is...oh no...not this again! They assure us it's not volcanic. But yes it's really wierd no one else feels it and only one out of about 40 tremors got recorded that day. They say we feel it more at our place as we are the first point of impact as we stick out into the ocean. All quiet last night. Seems to have gone back to sleep...till when?

sounds like relief is on the way!! All goodies welcome! Yesterday there was only one medium quake and a couple tiny trembles and one before dawn this morning. I just rolled over and went back to sleep.
