cespe offer

cespe, the water company for ensenada, just came out with an offer for a 12% discount for those who pre-pay, at the water company, by 28 february, an amount equal to their average annual fee. i did not know why, until i read osprey's thread. guess cespe's anticipating an outcry. our bill was not way out of line, but it has clearly gone up:( without, of course, any explanation from cespe.

we can do the pre-pay, sin problema. but how about most regular folks here who live hand to mouth?:fire: well, i guess i'm referring to those who care to pay. seems it's optional, a suggestion, not really a requirement.;D

thanks to osprey for the explanation.

Sylens --------

It must be, as you say, optional to pay a water bill. I've never seen anybody turned off in spite of the fact that they ignore the bill for long periods of time.
Now, if the power commision had the same heart........

In the La Paz area, the water company can & DOES shut off the water if a bill remains unpaid after the second unpaid month due date. There is a penalty fee for reconnect, but I'm not sure of the amount. I know a lot of part-timers who do prepay annually, to avoid the hassle, but there hasn't been any discount for prepaying in the past. I'll ask when I pay the next billing cycle.

you are absolutely right. i learned recently that here in ensenada, water will not be cut off (because of health concerns). not so with electricity, which, as you know only gives about a week or so to pay before it's cut off.

but on water the late charges do add up. on the other hand, paying on time a couple of months in a row results in a discount (of a few centavos).:tumble:

i'll be interested in knowing if any other water companies in baja have the same or a similar promotion to the 12% annual discount cespe is offering.
