Celebrations...

We celebrate Women's History Month every year at the junior college where I work. There are interesting films and speakers, and there was a focus this year on latinas.

The annual luncheon last week featured a new dean, Ofelia Arrellano, who spoke about latinas entering the academic arena. It was a very personal talk, with pictures of her family and the tiny wooden house that her dad built for all of them, as they worked the central valley fields of CA. Hearing her and seeing her family background made me realize anew what opportunities are available in the states...and also what strong family and work values many from Mexico bring with them.

Thank you Ferna for your good wishes to the girl nomads on board. We are lucky to be able to share cultures. Zoe

Nice thought

Thanks Ferna. I appreciate your thoughts.

I think we are a real minority on this board????

I wonder how many chicks, chickens, and hens there are. Zoe, I too have hit the stewing range. (I loved your comment on the other thread) Anyone old enough to remember when classified job ads were divided by jobs for men and jobs for women is well past spring chicken.:yes:

Thanks again, Ferna
Diane
