GREEN BEER and Battallon de San Patricio

My recent move here(Ensenada) prompts my reading of Mexican history. Found an interesting connection between Irish and Mexicans back to 1848 US v. Mexican war.

Seems that some Irish were recruited by Santa Anna to desert US army. Posting this only to display historical quirk. Hoping this isn't spun off into political diatribe.

Yes, I'm very Irish, becoming a bit more Mexican daily and NEVER drink green beer!

Good on you! Hope you can find some Guiness in Ensenada. There is NOTHING Irish about putting green food coloring in Bud Light. I'm also sick to death of Corned Beef and Cabbage.

We're having Roast Lamb (with some green mint jelly), soda bread and of course potatoes. Just wish I could find a wee dram of John Powers & Sons. (sigh) Guess Bushmill's or Jameson's will have to do...

O'so...
It pains my parents that I dislike corned beef and cabbage. But, that leaves more for them.

fdt,
If your theory is true, that would prove how shrewd Mexican character judgement really is. 8-)

Ever notice how closely the Irish and Mexican flags resemble each other?

New neighbor asked which lot was mine. Another chirped, "That's easy. Just look for all of the beer cans."

Such exaggeration and stereotyping of Irish character is highly offensive to me. Everyone knows that half of my consumption comes from BOTTLES!

And I encourage any/all to witness that in person, when my new "pub" opens in October!

BTW, the last time I had a regular supplier of Powers was when I lived on the central coast and traded with an Italian immigrant liquor store owner by the name of Dominic. According to Dom, me and guess who- the parish priest, were the only customers who requested that brand.
