My Grandfather claims they used to place large glass eggs in the henhouse to encourage the hens. He swore one day he walked in and found a snake with a large egg shaped bulge about the midsection.

Remember, a chicken is just an eggs way of making another egg.

I have been thinking about Gimpy, slow day here, anyway, I once visited the Flamingo Reserve in Celestun on the Yucatan. There are thousands of these long neck beauties devouring shrimp. They arrive white and leave the color of a plastic yard variety. At any rate, many of them look like Gimpy on on the way to their makeover. Is she by any chance eating shrimp shells? I would think Alo Vera would turn her green?

I used them blow up ant hills & then fry the survivors with a magnifying glass. Torture cats and stuff. But I grew out of it.

Hey, do you like to start fires? ;D

"Thanks... for the memories..lah da da da dah.."

Dave...you have unearthed a memory that takes me back to about age 10 when I had a Lionel train set which with we improvished our own version of "The Perils of Pauline" with Dudly Do-right as the hero...remember that?

My buddy, Randy, and I were little devils. We had my train set all laid out in our basement and were having lots of fun running the train...me yelling "You gotta pay the rent..you gotta pay the rent!"....Randy yelling back, "Oh..I can't pay the rent! I can't pay the rent!"..and so on.

Then the train would go bump .. bump, and fall off from hitting an obstacle on the track...and my mother would yell down the stairs..."Roger-Randall, you two untie those mice right now!"

Randy is a train engineer to this day. I got out of Leavenworth a long time ago.

I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

Ants

When I was a kid I used to take old candy bars and set them outside for about 2-3 hours. Come back and they'd be full of ants -- so I'd lite a couple firecrackers and watch them blow up. If lucky I'd catch a fly or two that would stop by.

Rooster

In Tijuana our friends have a guard-rooster. They don't need a dog because this bird will make noise and warn against anything coming. And if you get too close it will peck you. Funny thing it only attacks men - my wife and niece were able to get by and it went after my nephew (still sitting in the van trying to get out).

Europeans did too, farmers used them to be warned from all kind of predators, and also from thieves.
There is even a story about it, involves the Saint Martin.

A little known historical story: The American rebels during the war of independence with England would train game (fighting) c-cks to attack red. During the war a squadron of these fowl actually captured a group of Redcoats. Hence the phrase "Chicken catch a torry":biggrin::biggrin:
