Second Shark Law Protest

There was a second protest yesterday afternoon at the delegacion at Cabo San Lucas against Shark Norma 029. My Mexican neighbors say there were perhaps more than the 30,000 marchers expected and the whole thing got lots of press. I was warned there would be lots of migra there looking for people with my kind of visa so I couldn't attend. On the previous electronic protest we sent almost 200,000 emails.

If you see the news anywhere, please give me the link. Thanks

So what's next? What can we do?

No news on the more recent protest you mention.

I was about to post that Register link from today.

Really glad to see follow-up protests to let MDF know that we are still here. I can imagine that there would be 30,000 protestors in Cabo for ANYTHING, though.

I really think the best thing that many of us can do is what the article suggests: donate money to The Billfish Foundation with an earmark to this issue. They appear to be taking the lead in this.

I'm sending in 100.00 (that's US, of course) tonight. Anybody else?

The other thing we can do is if you are a paying member of one of the "conservation" groups supporting this new law; yank your support and let them know why.

ENFORCEMENT

Yesterday morning I saw four white pickups pass the front gate of the rancho, each with four guys in the back. Most unusual, this is a lonely part of the Pacific coast.

I asked my ranch manager whether they were construction laborers (the coast is slowly waking up) and he said "No - PGR".

It appears the Feds are enforcing the no-net law along this coast - probably the last bullet in the head for the local fishing industry, already in the final stages of collapse.
