Celebrex is still on the market---------you must be thinking of that "Other" drug, the name of which I cannot remember------viox, I think.

For a second there I thought I was a medical doctor and prescribed the wrong drug. A very common mistake... very serendipitous that it happened here, it just proves my point... Yes, it was the "other" one I meant. That was just an example. There is a long list of drugs that were pulled off the market after it was found out that they caused more problems than they cured. I have not kept records of which these are. I just know that there are many...

What next?

Quote:
The state Department of Corrections pulled tubes of Chinese-made toothpaste from five prison facilities earlier this month following reports that similar brands contain a poison used in antifreeze, the agency said Thursday.

The New York Times reported Thursday that about 900,000 tubes of tainted Chinese toothpaste were more widely distributed in the United States than previously thought, turning up in correctional facilities, mental institutions and some hospitals.

Chinese-made products account for 60 percent of all consumer-product recalls, and 100 percent of all 24 kinds of toys recalled so far this year, he said.

Arnold Morton, director of dental services for the DOC, said in a statement that the toothpaste presented a low level of risk. "A person would have to swallow almost half a gallon of toothpaste for it to get the lethal dose," he said.

What would happen if someone ate 1/2 gallon of untainted toothpaste....:barf:

My 82 yr old mother lives with me in Loreto (for the past 3 years) and I purchase her medications at the local farmacia's. I bring her to the US once a year to have her annual checkups (and to prove to the government she is still alive) and I fill several months of her meds in the US. The names of the drugs are the same in the US as they are in Mexico (generic). Luckily she does not have to take alot of different medications which makes it easier not to run into serious problems. I feel very comfortable that the drugs I purchase for her in Loreto are as safe as the ones purchased in the US. I have no doubt that there are problems with prescription drugs depending on what they are...however from the number of people that cross the border to purchase much needed medications speaks for itself...it is a sad state of affairs that so many cannot afford to purchase life saving pharmacueticals in the US and therefore have no alternative but to purchase in Mexico...Canada...all over the world actually. It makes me sick (pardon the pun) that the pharmacuetical companies rape the people in the US and as long as I double check purchases in Mexico I would ...do anything NOT to purchase in the US ....as long as I feel safe in what I need to purchase I will continue to support our local famacias...if I am in doubt of course I would not....it is the kickbacks that drs. make in the US that makes me want to scream ....in fact the entire medical system in the US is one of the reasons I moved to Mexico....
I paid a hospital bill for a child to be born in Constitution and it was $130.00 (american). My sons roomate had a baby last week in Las Vegas and spent the same amount of time in the hospital and the bill was $13,000...go figure. Yes the standards were much higher...but give me a break....something is wrong with this picture....
the statistics for deaths due to pharmacueticals in the US is very high...much higher then that of Mexico...

In 1967 my daughter was born in Mercy Memorial Hospital in Sacramento. Bill, paid for by my union, was $ 150.00.
I was insured with Blue Cross for $ 27.95 a month for a family of four.
What happened:?::?::?:

Thanks for reminding me of one of the three worst plagues on mankind...Lawyers...politicians...doctors, in that order.
They all can help you, but the price is immoral. They do make you think and work hard to stay out of their reach:biggrin:

USA HEALTH CARE

I pay $291 a month to Blue Cross Health insurance and it covers everything for myself and my wife that Medicare doesn't cover-------what's not to like???? I pay nothing more for any health care-------

This is called "insurance", and it works for me.

I almost forgot, I also pay $561 quarterly for Medicare Part "B".

That is $5,736 per year for 2 of us, and I don't think that is bad at all for TOTAL COVERAGE.
