Nomad Sighting - cats and dogs on ol' hwy 101

I was cruising my KLR650 home from work and took the southbound scenic route and I'm flying past the Carlsbad State Beach campgrounds admiring the summer breeze and spirit in the air inhaling the barbecue smoke when I see a 'GOT BAJA' sticker on a big red Dodge Ram 5 or 6 cars ahead of me. Then I notice other stickers that look familiar and I realize it's fellow nomad, bajacat. So the dog-cat chase begins. I'm unable to gain on him without risking life or limb. Then the cat hits the red light at Poinsettia (my usual left turn) so I split lanes and squeeze my way up to the passenger window of the big red cat. Looking back, I should have leaned my helmet/head into the cab of the red rig and screamed "WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!".
But, I yell "bajacat!".
He looks at me, a little surprised.
Then I yell "bajadogs, from the Nomad forums!"
He immediately smiles "Hey, how you doing?"
The impatient friday commuters hit their horns, howling at the green light.
I say "I'm going home!" and shoot out in front of the cat to get the heck out of the way. A couple miles ahead I make U-turn to get back to my stomping grounds. The cat drives on, tapping his horn a couple of times while I salute him with my typical peace sign.
What a great way to start the weekend.

Cat,
Next time we'll pull over for a cold one OK?

same thing happened to me with El Jefe Tom and Paula last year on the 101 here in north Phx.

i am driving to my office from a project site and they come up along side me honking, didn't recognize the white truck and camper shell topper but they were signaling to roll down the window. they see my AZ lic tag which is FLYBAJA . and i have lots of baja steekers on the back of my Ford Sportrac's shell topper.
well its kinda early afternoon rush hour, i have got an open beer in my lap and a smoke in my other hand....but then i see they are people i knew from a viva party!
so we yell over road noise at each other a bit while trying to stay in lanes - lots of traffic -
it was fun, they were on their way to visit AZ friends then headed south.

hey Tom, if you see this i hope to check in on you at Todos soon. i have been invited to a cooks tour of the new La Paz Airpark masterplan by the principals. i am very excited about the prospect of one day owning a taxiway hangar home in la paz!

Mike
Tom is not in Todos.

That said the airpark in La Paz sounds cool.

Tom and Paula are on the East Cape.
You will have to go right by my place if you go to visit them, so please stop in.

I am less than a mile from where we briefly met. Maybe we could meet for cold ones on the beach some evening. South Ponto always has parking for vehicles like yours that can handle soft sand. DavidK, interested? Soft sand, cold beer... I'll bring the beer and the longboards!
