In the yachting world this is called a "Water still" commonly packed in our Offshore Life rafts. On a sunny day it gives a few people enough fresh water to sustain life until rescued.

Great...Now go try and buy one.

Ran into this advertisement about a year ago. Seems that no one is selling it.

On a sunny day how many people would 1.5 liters (that particular unit's max capacity) sustain?

The stills we use are for 4-6 person offshore Life rafts. In addition to water, there's food rations as well.

The offshore rafts are packed in Fiberglass containers. There are "Coastal Life Rafts" but these have no life support items in them as they're used for close "Coastal" waters, not offshore.
