I need to purchase one and It's preety important because that way I can get a cheap second computer and feed the skype thru that, you see it's all
beeing done right now on one single computer. We have an eye on ebay to see if we can do it inexpensively.

Does it have to be battery operated or is an AC unit OK?

It would have to be AC and if ever I do another remote broadcast, it would be thru the phone and the mixer and all that would be here at the studio
(read livingroom).

Please do not use the phone... it just will not give you enough bandwidth ..... It will work but very low fidelity.
As for a mixer.... get a Yamaha O1V96... you can carry it around in a suitcase if you want .......
Your broadcasts so far , even the music, is of such low quality with distinct phaseing problems and almost no fidelity......
The quality is so bad that I simply cannot listen to it.
So, get a good digital mixer such as the O1V-96 if you need portability....or one of the an M7CL if you want it installed in the studio.
Digital is now cheaper than comparable analogue systems .
So, good luck, and invest in a good engineer to help you set this thing up.
Wish you all the best,
- CaboRon

Yeah, Ron, this really applies here.

Get real.
I am assuming that all he needs is to mix a mic, music and a phone feed from a field correspondent.
The sound card in the computer is probably the weak link; not any phone input or analog mixer.

Hook,
I am more real than you know. This is my business.
Take it from a professional. The computer sound cards are woefully inadaquite......
I make my living creating high quality audio for live performances..... and I suggested the O1V-96 as an inexpensive solution for his problems.
I also spent many years in broadcasting... and a lot of remote experience....
Cheap and simplistic solutions will yield bad audio.
There is not a lot of middle ground in this business.
This advice is only intended if the maintance of broadcast standards are important.
fdt, I hope it works out for you. You seem to have a lot of enthusiasm..... but you will need to base this on sound engineering concepts....

Lemme guess, Ron....... you were spending someone else's money when it came to buying equipment?
Getting real means getting real with a budget, too. Getting real means getting realistic about the expectations of live audio delivered over the
internet and the limitations of the infrastructure in Baja, OUTSIDE OF CABO, CaboRon. Getting real means understanding where Ferna is at in his
fledging career.
Thanks for the resume and the name-dropping of model numbers........but get real.

Thanks CaboRon for the very good advise, the main objective of this is to have talk radio and not necesarily a mass concert event. We just missed out
on an opportunity to buy on ebay a mixer that comes recommended by others that are doing the same thing successfuly as we intend, it went for $11 USD
but we were outbid at the last minute, the one you are suggesting is right now $821 USD, has had 14 bids and still has 4 days to go. As you see It's
out of the question at this time and I am just looking to do my talk shows, then help others do theirs as well, the reason you hear music on our
streem is because I try to entertain a little before and after the show, nothing else.
Thanks

I have a Mackie 12 channel mixer I'm not currently using. It's an older mixer but the specs are clean...studio quality. You're welcome to use it.

| Fernando and I have talked about this a little thru U2U. One of the main problems he's having is not the
lack of a mixer (although that should help with the sound quality). He's on a basic Telnor DSL line, and everything in and out is being squeezed
through that connection.
If the upstream bandwidth is typical of other DSL lines, it's no more than 128 Kbs max. Not enough to support a VOIP connection plus a streaming audio
upload. Telnor offers higher service levels but their web site doesn't list the upstream bandwidths; only downstream.
Buena Suerte, Fernando!

The 1202 would be perfect for your needs, Ferna. So versatile. Even decent EQ. IT does lack individual channel VUs but I believe it has a peak
indicator for each channel.
Take Dave up on his offer.
