baja dangerous for surfers

in this a.m.'s ventura county star paper there is a lengthy article that starts with the recent event at casas involving the guy and girlfriend who were robbed, assaulted, etc. it then talks about other attacks, robberies, etc. that have been discussed on this board, and it even mentions baja nomad website as having several stories in regards to bad happenings in baja and people should check for government travel warnings before heading out.

This is the same incident that the LA Times and CNN covered, so it IS getting into the mainstream media-------that's a start.

And David K (plus several others) IS doing something proactive and effective-----see his post about contacting "Vince" of the Immigration Service, etc.

There ARE good things beginning to happen-------

I did drop off the letter at Vince's home, and nobody was there... so most likely he's on vacation... If he contacts me about it, I will encourage him to come here to Nomad and have a direct voice to us!

Agreed, bashing makes no sense. But, to be clear, just WHAT do you expect him to accomplish, and how?

I would hope that Vince passes this info to the sector chief. The head honcho needs to know what his people are (not) doing. They need to take care of US citizens, and that action the other night was NOT a good example.

Just to be clear, you believe these folks are currently completely in the dark about what's (and has been) happening?

thanks pappy for the news. this dec. im really thinking about staying at el cardon were theres people rather then stying at our old haughnt. with all these reports of crime i think it would be wise to be around other campers and shuttle our selfs up to our favorite spots rather then take the chance. thanks.
