Larry, you correct, I been installing now CP's on servers in Europe so not use all accounts smtp P25 - just checked. Blocked......
oh well, let's do 587 then.... :o
I wouldn't say that too loud... "they" might eventually figure it out and shut that door too. :)

Is that alternative commonly available in Europe? I'm using a non-standard port on my own ISP, but had never heard of 587 before you brought it up.

I have my own rootservers: SUSE10.2/Apache2.02/postfix Larry so i can configure the ports, 587 is a common option if 25 is blocked and think that is not just a european thing and if they block that there are more options...
It's a stupid cat and mouse game, yep, they will block 587 evtl. also as some ISP's do allready, making it for users harder but the real bad guy's still keep spamming....

I dont know your server config / options and also not if possible with sendmail, maybe the link helps you some.

Alternative option for everybody:

In general a alternative option would be Google Apps, it's free and you can use your domain name if you wish, they run on different ports and work here now also if you like to use a client as Outlook, Thunderbird etc.......

This morning, our out-going email servers would not work (mac.com and yahoo) when set to use port 25.

Port 587 still works.

So maybe somebody's fooling around at prodigy/telmex.

Hi All,
I've just spent all day trying to resolve the problem of sending mail from my web domain via Outlook Express going thru Telmex/Infinitum. Yesterday, I stopped being able to send. Received mail fine, but no sending exept on my Prodigy address. After much investigation, found that Telmex is indeed now blocking Port 25. (you can check yours at: http://www.canyouseeme.org/) They've done this before and I'm sick of it. Yes, I know it's a spam reduction tool, but it's also extemely inconvenient. (Prodigy IP addresses in general have a bad rep and are often blacklisted because they are used for so much spam)

Anyway, I just got finished changing over to an email relay service which bypasses Telmex and sends thru other ports. (https://www.dyndns.com/ - reliable, secure, does virus scanning, 150 relays a day for $15 a year). It's great to know Telmex can't mess with me anymore (at least on this one little thing.) Give it a try. There's a 30 day money back guarantee.

They don't effect Gmail at all. It works great - not using port 25.

A Cormac McCarthy quote!

I was in some airport and NEEDED a book. I picked "The Road"! WTF? Ultra-harsh. I was blind-sided on that, having never heard of him! A MOVIE?! Gotta be a family film, NOT!
So I have subsequently read:
"No Country ... " ... read that twice, back to back.
"Blood Meridian" .. way too (?) intense. Scary-scary.
"Border Trilogy" (from which "All The ... Horses ... " saddles up.) I sent a copy to "Nomad Rob Kinson!"
"Outer Dark" ... unsettling, at best.
Halfway through "Suttree"

Phwew.
