We have begun a list of contact information for important government offices and emergency numbers. One important one to remember that will serve many
areas of Baja is 066. This is the equivalent of the 911 number in the US and should only be used for emergencies.

Question:
When driving in Baja with a U.S. phone that is roaming, what numbers precede the number dialing? 001 or 011 or?
Historicaly, these numbers would be needed along the border zone...
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

Baja Emergency Phone numbers
I have had no reason to use my cell in Baja. I am sure there are those on this forum who have called with their cell while roaming. Hopefully there
will be a post with better info in that regard than I can provide.

I've never dialed a number in Baja while in Baja, but to dial the US while in Baja you dial 001+area code+number. I would assume in Baja you would
dial the city code and number with out the international code 011.

Emergency numbers
Thank you, most helpful. However, the link:
www.bajaemergencyguide.com does not seem to work. I got an error when I tried.

On my last few trips, I have been able to call my stateside home just by using my speed-dial which only has the US area code - no country code. I am
on AT&T. Retrieving messages is a real pain, though.

I tried www.binationalemergency.com and got www.jet-rescue.com which is an air rescue service. I must assume Binational Emergency uses them.

Bi-National Emergency is a $30.00 per year per person service that assists you when you need help...YOU have to pay all costs. Thousands of dollars in
costs occur when you have to be evacuated out of Baja and you have to be able to pay for it before they will air evacuate you! That is why a SkyMed
policy is so very important and so very inexpensive. Go online to see how we help www.SkyMed.com/Loreto or e-mail me at skymedloreto@gmail.......Barbara SkyMed Rep. in Loreto.....
