Drug Runners in Gonzaga Bay
I have a place at Alfonsina's in Gonzaga Bay. This is to let people know of what is going on down there. In Dec. there were several thefts - a truck
at Alfonsina's, close to the cantina; and at RanchoGrande palapas (south of Alfonsina's) A Suzuki 4x4, a 12 foot inflatable & outboard motor, a
fairly new extended-cab white 4x4 Toyota truck, a 28' Trophy fishing boat and the latest was at 4:00am today (Sat.1/12) a Cessna 206. The plane was
parked only 15 feet from where the owners were sleeping in their trailer. Some how it was moved to the runway where they used a cutting torch to
remove the prop and throttle locks. Four sets of vehicle lights were seen going up the runway as the plane left. It woke most people up as it flew
North, pangas were heard earlier in the night -probably a load of drugs. We've had plenty of plane crashes and boats lost over the years, but this is
a first for a plane to be stollen. It's the wild west in Gonzaga!
Anyone who might be going down to camp at the RanchoGrande palapas should be very aware of what has happened.

The whole area from La Ventana south to Bay of LA is very hot right now with the military hanging out in TJ and Rosarito.

A squad of Mexican Marines from Mexico City had a check point set up about 10 miles north of Puertecitos yesterday afternoon. Very thorough checks of
closed vehicles - everyone out- check all compartments etc. About 5 min a car. First time the Marines have been here that I've seen.

uh oh...........here we go again. they're back after the 206s. was 210s for a while - most with the big cessna singles just won't go into unsecured
strips anymore.

Guess I need to get my Citabria back with the 90 hp. It would probably haul two baggies without going over gross weight. Most of these drugheads
probably could not fly a tail dragger anyway.

I tried to post news of this yesterday morning (I didn't have enough coffee in me and couldn't figure out how to start a new thread) after I heard it
reported on the Baja Maritime Net (7.233mHz @ 0800 Pacific) It was reported by Patrick XF1GSD in Puerto Lopez Mateos. It was also disseminated later
in the day on the Mañana Net. I forwarded the message to Ralph at Rancho Santa Ines yesterday evening when I spoke with him on 80 meters). Keep
passing the word along and eventually the bad guys will get caught. The worst part about this situation is that all the passenger's had left their
important documents (passports, etc) in the plane.

Does anyone know of someone that could be paid to watch an aircraft for the night at Alfonsina's? That 206 is probably now on the mainland..

This stollen 206 was taken at Rancho Grande's airstrip, not at Alfonsina's airstrip. The 2 strips are about a half a mile apart. In answer to your
question - you would park your plane near the Alfonsina cantina where there is always a lot of people & you can talk to Antonio who runs the
cantina; he probably can find someone to watch your plane, especially if you pay that person. There are several house owners down there right now who
are close to the cantina.

Even if you pay the guy 50 bucks to "watch" it, a truckload of guys with guns show up, the plane is gone.......

Why dont the owners of these planes take off spark plugs or fuses so that
way they cannt start them ? kill switches? mmmmm

Sounds like it had locks on it allready....anyway it probably would be a bad idea to start taking parts off a plane to disable it....adds another
chance for something to go wrong.....

Three individuals were stopped by elements of the Municipal Police after stealing a small plane in the community of San Luis this past Saturday. The
delinquents entered the tourist camp Rancho Grande, in the Bay of San Luis Gonzaga and after stealing the plane, they fled by a local road towards the
highway, where one of the vehicles damaged a tire. Meanwhile a different Cessna XB-1XF landed in the delegation of San Vicente. After landing the
small plane several suspicious units remained in the surrounding area. Several agents were mobilized to capture presumed members of comando. Those
detained were identified as Gerald Salgado Montaño, 25 years of age, original of Ensenada; René Gilberto González Reynosa, 37 years, also of Ensenada,
and Felipe Núñez Aldama, 31 years, resident of the indigenous community La Huerta, in Real de the Castillo.
