Laura's Wet Buzzard Bar Closed?

I just read Dean Miller's post (in the Fishing & Hunting forum: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=32183 ) about Laura's at Rancho Cielito Lindo...

"Sad to report that Gypsy camp apparently is closed, including the Wet Buzzard Bar (WBB). It was reported that Laura and her son moved to Texas with her American husband. No more $1.00 Burritos.

After the WBB was closed some one broke in and removed much of the equipment...."

I wonder where Dave & Juanita are, that didn't deter the theft, etc.

Our best wishes to Laura!

Now some photos from years past (Bedman's and my photos from VivaBaja.com):

David,

As of the first part of June 2008 the Wet Buzzard Bar was closed.

It was reported that Laura & son had reunited with her husband and moved to the US; as I recall Texas. It was also reported that there had been a certain amount of vandalism since she departed. We visited the bar and I walked around the upstairs perimeter. Peering through the window I did not notice evidence of vandalism but there was a sleeping bag on the floor as indicating that some one was living there as a watchman.

Therefore, I do not know if there was indeed vandalism and if there was vandalism to what extent.

I did notice that the sign at the entrance to Gypsy Camp announcing $1.00 burritos had been spray painted out.

The Gypsy camp was totally deserted other that an old non functional trailer setting near the entrance which appeared to be a deserted derelict ...The water and electic had been turned off therefore nothing was working.

Walking around the Wet buzzard and Gypsy camp was like walking through a ghost town of the old west--- all that was lacking was some of Sergio Leone's music from the Bueno,Malo y Feo

Thanks Dean... I edited my post to 'theft' instead of vandalism based on your reply... Perhaps it is the same if someone broke in?

Juanita & Dave ('Porky Pig')... are you out there? What happened? Lack of tourism because of narco-terrorism at the border, loss of beer sales license, Laura needed to move on? Will Gypsy's RV park remain closed with no cantina to serve food and drinks?
