OT is a fun place to peek once in a while, but I wouldn't want to hang there. Only time I visit is when one of my posts gets banned fromt he main board. Although a snakepit- it's still a huge step above the Craigslist Rants and Raves imho.

Hasn't been called the Winston Cup in years.

Not PC. ;D

There was a black driver a couple years back. Don't know where he went. Maybe open-wheel?

I think those very few (like maybe two) individuals who feel compelled to express hatred, passed off as political opinion, should seek out other internet places to do so. I don't think it should be tolerated here. (Hopefully Doug will have deleted the current posting and banned the poster)

It seems that if you spell out curse words on this Forum, you may be banned or at least have your post deleted. In my opinion, the cloaked, and blatant, racist posts are much worse.

in perusing the offtopic board I noticed the worst offender palmeto99 has been banned, along with his/her other aliases. just take a look at the last of members, the newer ones since july or so and you'll see all of his/her aliases and all of the multiple personalities have been banned. I suspected for quite some time that this person had several aliases and I could guess at many of them. Now this proves that I suspected correctly all along. hopefully off topic will be a more civilized place and the rest of the board will be too.

Actually, I like the idea of the OT board being like a cesspool. Why not have a place for crap to settle? Keeps the rest of the streets cleaner.

I say, everything goes on the OT board.

Pam, some on the board are tired of your campaigning. On OT there are many not-so-nice things. Stop with the proselytizing and stay where it is safe for you.

Pam: If you really look at all the Mess, you can finally realize that it is like a ZOO on the Off Topic..

Monkeys, Monkeys , Monkeys. It is interesting watching the results of :Education and Culture" that has developed in the past two Generations.

Can this be a Result of Self Control?

Failure to understand Reality?

To me it sure demonstartes "Inability to Think".

But it is good for a Laugh to Listen to the Monkeys!

buenos dias.

Hook, this is a moderated board with rules. The rules were severely violated and thus action was taken. If off topic is to be an unmoderated board than so be it but it is not. I disagree with you that it contains certain posts, while it does to a point, there are several threads in this very section that prove that was not the case.

Gull, for some reason the offending poster claimed they were from Loreto, and this being a small town, I kind of took responsibility in a way for their comments. It was very difficult to believe they were really from here as we don't see such blatant and vile racism here thank goodness, they didn't represent Loreto. I felt it necessary to defend not only myself but other members of this board who were offended by that person. I have no fear to defend myself or others but perhaps you can't relate to that.

yeah the off topic has entertainment value and is good for laffs you are correct. and I do not take most of it seriously but
there have been some very good exchanges in there and I have also looked into my own opinions when another person demonstrates that I should do so, but does so with respect for others. i don't have any problem with changing my position on things political if i discover and or am presented with evidence that would catalyze a change.

i thank you for your posts skeet, the advice on how the locals and the old timers here carry on with things is very valuable to me.

You have worn out the value of your outrage by posting about this subject so often. Moving on in life and not afflicting other Nomads with you campaign would be a great change of pace.

Why is "off-topic" still an item here

None of us that avoid the underground need to hear this stuff.

If you like living down there- great!

Keep it down there- OK??

No harm, no foul, enjoy your place.....

Us civilized folks are tired of hearing about what happens in the delinquent kindergarten....

I have been refraining for a few months to post at all. Since it has gotten somewhat more civil, I put my toes in the water and have felt welcomed. So, with that said, I will offer my 2 cents:

The title of this string is "Racism in Off Topic". Yet there are two things going on here.
1.The subject of Off Topic and its deplorable racism.
2. FlyfishingPam's sense of justice.

Regarding Racism: It is so offensive, but it is what we have come to expect by the usual offenders. They are not people most of us would ever socialize with. So, let them stay in the cesspool. We don't have to go there. For us grownups, it is entertaining to lurk, infrequently, but a total waste of time to post in Off Topic. You aren't going to change any minds but you are encouraging them. They feed on new blood. It doesn't have to be yours.

Regarding Pam: She was viciously attacked in Off Topic; attacks on her demeanor, her family, her marriage, her business, using the most vile of insulting language. Yes, it would have been better for her if she had ignored them, but you try that under those conditions. When it gets so personal with distorted hate, you are compelled to defend yourself.

Those guys also ventured out of the cesspool and their venom spilled over here in the mainstream board. They attacked me, then reported my replies and got some of my posts removed. That is now water under the bridge and I have moved on. But Pam is feeling a sense of justice because the offenders have been banned.....Finally! (What took so long?)

Through collaboration and detective work, several of us Nomads discovered the real identity of the main perpetrator. We also know that he doesn't have a residence in Loreto. He was kicked out of Baja. Although we can't substantiate this next claim, it seemed apparent to us that he multiplied into several different entities, all at around the same time, all using the same bullying tactics, and all supporting one another.

I say good riddance!

And good for you Pam, for sticking up for what is right.

Most of us do have a life outside of the BajaNomad. The exchange of ideas, questions and answers revolving around our common love of Baja is usually a pleasure here. Oh sure, you have to wade through the BS, but for the most part, Nomads are wonderful people and the wealth of information and experience is second to none.

I get it that Gull felt the necessity to confront Pam's postings here although it think it is a bit insensitive. He was getting tired of the subject and he is free to state that opinion.

Pam is working through her anger and her hurt, and this was a necessary part of it. Lets indulge her. She needed that and we can stand by her without criticizing.
