Favorite tune? I guess overall I'd have to say the sweet and quiet little offering, Cuando Canto. (I believe it's performed in one of the links on this thread.) I tend to break into song soon after I wake up... and more often than not, the first tune - oft repeated - is Cuando Canto.

The lyrics are quite simple but I find them inspiring:

Cuando Canto by Ozomatli

When I sing my song I want to inspire my people with a solution
When I wake up in the morning I know that I have the power for any triumph
When I go to bed at night I can see the stars that give me hope
When I dream in the early morning I hope that my work is not temporary
When I show my heart through my actions you can understand that I am not a perfect man, but I try to make the best decisions for the world and I put it in a song
When I sing my song

Nena

Thank you for the translation for "Cunado Canto". I just bought both Lila Downs- La Cantina CD, and Ozomatli- live at the Filmore Cd. How about one more translation, Ozomatli- La Misma Cancion. It sounds like a fun song. Still trying to learn spanish.

Wait a minute. Is your grandaughter, Kelsea Rae Littlee? If so, San Diego is still a very small town.

p.s. Sorry I did not respond sooner, but I was out of town.

I have met your "grand" daughter, and seen her band. They are excellent.

However, the other connection is, sadly, not true.

My story is this: I grew up in Cardiff, on four acres of land, with green houses, chickens, etc. I went to San Dieguito High School, graduated in 1980, then, on to Humboldt State University (No jokes, please), to get a Fisheries degree (I liked to fish, so, I thought....)

Anyhoo. Now I live in a place where we have a La Mesa address, but we are really in El Cajon, with an acre, and, again, chickens. My oldest, Graeme, is a Senior at Grossmont, and fending off ladies (Actually, Graeme, if you are hacking into this old people site, I love your Greek girlfriend.... She appears to feed you well.) .

My younger, Hayden, is in 8th grade at Hillsdale. Not to be a parent tooting their own horn, but Hayden is President of the school Jazz band, and Vice-President of the Symphonic Orchestra. For the Jazz band, in addition to being their pianist, he also plays bass, his Dad's instrument.

Ahora, yo soy un Abogado. Si, es la verdad.

Sorry to hijack the thread. Will I redeem myself by saying, "Julieta Venegas."?
