north side of the southbound highway 1 in el rosario. open 6 days but on saturday and sunday you can get those two handed carne tacos and fix them
just like you want them with their salsas and condiments......

while you're there, ask about the seafood escabeche. basically it is octopus, mussels, caracole, lobster, abalone in different combinations that are
mixed with a a jalapeno and onion in pickling spice.
prices vary depending on contents and seasons. VERY GOOD!!!!

I am trying to grasp the "north side of the southbound highway" thing - but if you get me one of those two handed tacos and a jar of the seafood
escabeche I would be willing to let it slide. Man does it look good! Will be a stop on the trip next May.
What is the seafood escabeche used for? Ciappino or other seafood dishes? It seems that if you buy one of those jars you would want to have a plan
for its immediate use. Maybe just slap it on a cracker!

Okay. Rogbag. You asked a question.
From your description, me thinks it is (1) San Quintin (My guess is this is correct because of your description of the stands being in the East side.
Are there a lot of trees, and agricultural land behind?.); (2) Maneadero (At the South end, Tacos Los Poblanos?); or, (3) North of Ensenada, at El
Sauzal (El Trailero (sp?)) You would know it if it was Sauzal, because, it is the town, just north of Ensenada, where my wife always has to hold her
nose and breathe through her handkerchief, because of the fish processing plants.
However, on the way back, she will always ask for a stop at "The Trailer," as she loves their Adobado, and seafood cocteles.

where the road curves in el rosario to the east as it more or less parallels the river "la mijita" is on the north side (get it?) whilst still on the
southbound hiway.
it is cooked and stored for later use (as in canning veggies) and we only refrigerate after opening. the oil in it congeals in the fridge and looks
gross but the good stuff is always good. the cracker sounds about right!

Man that jar is awseome! Id love to buy some of that. Woody do they sell that stuff somewhere in Rosarito maybe in popotla? I dont have anytime to go
down south right now and buy it but Rosarito maybe Ensenada is a posibility. Thanks.

i don't know. i just know the old woman who collects the stuff at pta baja while the boys go fishing and jars the mariscos. her family lives in ER and
owns the "la mijita". great people. your money is going straight to the old lady who lives in a dirt floor shack with holes in the plywood roof. solar
panel for one dim bulb and nothing else. no refrigerator, nada. but if you ever meet her (not that you would, but if) she makes a crab cake type
burrito that'll blow your doors off.

I think you are correct - north of San Quintin. Agricultural land behind. I can't see them on Google Earth, so will wait until the next road trip
in May to confirm. A darn shame I didn't pay attention the first two times I went by. Ah well...

I can smell the tacos!!! We were in Cantu a couple of weeks ago and ate like pigs at El Poblano in Maneadero. I cannot believe how fast they can
make those tacos - and how good they are going down. They have it figured out. They cook outside so the aroma fills the streets and we can't resist.
I have to say, the jar thing looks vile to me but to each his own!!

Woody -
I get it. Don't know that I will remember it in the morning, but for now, maybe.
Will make sure to stop by on my way back north next May. Hope to try & coax a recipe of some sort out of her for a fish stew or some such thing.
I'm thinking a ciappino type dish. Anybody out there have a good recipe?
