From the BPE..help needed
Dont know if any of you know these people but if you can help, I am sure it would be appreciated.
I want to let everyone know that Gabriel Howearth of Buena Fortuna Gardens of La Ribera is in intensive care in a private hospital in Puerta
Vallarta being treated for an ear infection that became meningitis and has now moved to his brain. He is currently unconscious and is receiving
continuous but costly medical care. The hospital intends to cease treatment unless they receive an immediate payment of $10,000.00.
My husband and I have arranged for $5,000.00 to be wired to the hospital and are now trying desperately to raise the other $5,000.00. Many of you know
Gabriel and know that his work to save endangered plant species benefits all of us by helping secure the world's food supply. He and his lovely wife
Kitzia have 2 small sons, ages 4 and 2 . The family was in Puerta Vallarta consulting with a group of organic farmers who wanted to learn everything
that Gabriel could teach them about organic farming. Gabiel is considered one of the world's experts in organic farming and has an international
reputation.
To make a contribution to his medical treatment fund, please contact Bill Galt at williamgaltataoldotcom or call 624-1136357 (Mexican Cell) or
858-3454167 (Vonage). Thank You, Gail Weaver

This "Get Help" email sounds so much like the chain-spam mails I have received over the past several years.
Be wary of pleas for help without actually knowing where your money is
going.

Hmmmmm ....
I wouldn't think a "Get Help" email spam would give you telephone numbers to call. That opens the door to do your own investigation.

1.- Verify the legitimacy of the plea and help if you can
2.- Ad Tom to your "No Clone" list. Definiely.
I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the person in P.V. making decision on the Howearth case is not Mexican. But if it were.... I don't believe
this has to do with nationality, ethnicity or race. Condemning the entire country of Mexico and all Mexicans over this particular case is one example
of a quick hate-response reflecting prejudice and shortsightedness.

I promised my self I would not respond to the negativity that has overtaken this board, but this situation is too serious. My posting was just to
show another side, a positive side. Both countries have good and bad, but Judy is trying to help Gabriel. Please let's not lose that point. We have
taken many gringo folks who have no financial resources to the hospital in La Paz where they were treated at no cost. The cruiser community in La
Paz has always stepped up for thousands of dollars to aid folks, both Mexican and gringo in their time of need. There are several large gringo
communities in PVallarta who need to be made aware of Gabriel's situation so they can assist. I wish I were there. Hopefully someone has a contact
in PV. Judy, thanks for doing this, let us know how it works out.

Thank you Judy for your heroic effort.
I also wanted to mention that we have taken MANY gringo to emergency and NEVER been charged...nor for the meds. I remember when Sirenita was little
and she got her bowels twisted and was really sick and they rushed her into emergency ahead of other patients who had insurance.
I understand the need for the mexican system to ask for funds for longer term or special needs care and do not think this has anything to do with race
at all.
Let pull together and help this man..one day it could be you!

Best of Wishes
My good thoughts and heart-felt best wishes for a complete recovery for this good man are sent to him and gratitude for the love and support of his
family and family of friends.
About 30 years ago Gabriel was one of several teachers who gave a seminar in his specialty of organic gardening at Rosemary Gladstar's School of
Herbal Studies in Guerneville, California.
The memory of a day spent in the presence of this sincere and gentle man are not forgotten.
The interwoven thread of human lives creates a beautiful and textured vestment which serves the wearers for years to come.
Wishes of "God Speed" to a special human being!!

Friends of Gabriel
Excerpts from a letter:
Gabriel has been up since 7:00 this morning & he´s just now starting to take his first nap of the day. Sounds like the Gabriel we all know! He´s
been trying to talk but he has a feeding tube down his throat so most words sound fairly garbled. He´s been moving around quite a bit in his bed &
is chomping at the bit to get out of there. As far as hospitals go, there is much LOVE & grace on the staff. Their medical knowledge is powered by
Love for the patients. By tomorrow he´ll be unplugged from all the equipment and I´m assuming they´ll be keeping him on oral ant-biotics for a few
days. His health is improving dramatically.
If anyone would like to help financially, please U2U me for the information.

So glad to hear this also! We have enjoyed tours of his gardens and been
well educated about many plants and trees. We had arrangements to
pick up our fruit trees this fall. With all the prayers he maybe back working the
land he loves.

I don't know Gabriel but I have known Baja Judy through here posts here for many years and I don't think she would have posted this if she went
totally confident in the situation.
