For Osprey

http://www.tribunadeloscabos.com.mx/newpage/index.cfm?op=por...

Here is a sloppy translation:

She/he mentioned the síndico José Curiel Castro that the federal authorities will have to make their part in what corresponds McCarthy, but the City council will also look for to determine if some municipal official incurred in irregularities and in his case to sanction it according to the law. It already authorized three wells of the basin from Santiago to GRE-HANSA for their exploitation: Delegate. Representatives' of GRE-HANSA that were never presented in the forums of discussion of the Plan of Ecological Classification of the municipality of The Ends to inform on their project dark attitude: PVE

Municipal authorities, legislators and parties politicians thoroughly demanded an investigation as for the former director's participation from the National Fund of Development to the Tourism (Fonatur), John McCarthy, in the acquisition of the property The Corner, in the municipality of The Ends, on the part of the managerial group GRE-HANSA, for the development of the project tourist Cabo Cortés. The municipal síndico of The Ends, José Curiel Castro, explained that the legality of the lands is not questioned where the tourist complex will be built, but if there were anomalies in the sale and purchase transactions, and if it is possible to apply McCarthy the Law of Responsibilities of the Public Officials. She/he mentioned that the federal authorities will have to make their part in what corresponds McCarthy, but the city council will also look for to determine if some municipal official incurred in irregularities, and in his case to sanction it according to the law. It clarified that to the date, those responsible for project among who McCarthy doesn't figure have only made presentations to municipal authorities, but they don't still process the expedition of the necessary permits for the beginning of the works, because up to where we have understood they are still in the stage of closing the federal steps. In turn, the delegate of The Riverside, Julio Montaño, remembered that the lands where it will be erected the project, The Lagoons and The Abundance, they belonged to his identified family with the former governor and former national leader of the PRD, Leonel Cota Montaño", but 30 years ago they sold them to Alejandro Rocha who seemingly sold them in turn to the group integrated by Real Goodman you are, of United States, and Urban Hansa, of Spain. She/he specified that the property The Corner and Miramar are part of The Abundance, but they were private property and she/he ignores in what terms McCarthy could intervene in the transactions. Montaño commented that the managers of GRE-HANSA have been very reserved, and she/he has had little contact with them, for what knew of the project by means of Internet. She/he mentioned that some days ago she/he could more interactuar with them, because they donated to the community of The Riverside a million dollars for the construction of a hospital. It was plentiful that in the town many inhabitants come the project well, because it will generate employment sources, but other they look at it then with mistrust it is spoken of having as neighbors to a tourist community, and to a town of six thousand houses that will change the form of life in the region. And it is that, she/he commented, it is not only Cabo Cortés, but of other two projects with marine that are planned for that area, where at the moment it can be it dilutes sweet to three or four meters deep, and in fact the National Commission of the Water (Conagua) it already authorized three wells of the basin from Santiago to GRE-HANSA for their exploitation. It exposed that she/he will play to the current municipal authorities to grant the permits of change of floor use and urban development, for what will be to the slope that the things are fulfilled of agreement the regulation, and although it admitted that the impact in The Riverside will be unavoidable, it is necessary to look for that the developers participate with the creation of urban infrastructure". José Manuel Ochoa, president of the Environmentalist Green Party of Mexico in the municipality of The Ends, said on the other hand that the Secretary of the Public Function should investigate McCarthy, to participate in the sale and purchase of lands in The Riverside when she/he still acted as general director of Fonatur. It qualified as a " cochinero " what McCarthy and company made, as it was revealed in communications by Internet, but it also questioned the dark attitude of the representatives of GRE-HANSA that you/they were never presented in the forums of discussion of the plan of ecological classification of the municipality of The Ends which is unfinished - to inform on their project. She/he mentioned that starting from the polemic wakened up by the cloudy transactions of purchase sale of lands in The Riverside, the project Cabo Cortés is in the eye of the hurricane". If its representatives thought that they will have it it facilitates, now they are in the aim of all and they will have to present measures of mitigation of the impacts that will generate, and that they will affect to the park national submarine of Cabo Pulmo", she/he said

Thanks Judy, keep me in the loop. Somebody dropped off the Nov 4 issue of La Tribuna (de Los Cabos) that has a shocking headline "Trafico de influencias". John McCarthy is suspected of Influence Peddling for Cabo Cortez. The article is replete with Emails about his 20% fee (of 500 million dollars). Influence peddling in Mexico is a true non sequiter like The La Brea Tarpits (The Tarpits, tarpits).
