Coco is doing well. Sal Fish of Score International introduced him at the Baja 1000 drivers meeting on Thursday night. The crowd roared and cheered
for Coco.
BTW, the motorcycle sidecar photo...that was one of two crazy teams that raced the Baja 1000 in and on a sidecar mounted bike this year: A German team
and an Austrian team...gotta love the Euros!

When I saw Coco in Ensenada this October, he said that he does indeed plan on returning to his "Corner" after his most recent amputation heals
completely. The "Jazzy" electric wheelchair we delivered to him will work well on hardpack or pavement, but not in soft sand/dirt. Once the skin
granulates and he's healed, we'll measure and mold(cast) him for new prostheses - hopefully in February. Bilateral below knee amputees normally can
function very well with prostheses. We have a huge supply of used parts in our La Paz clinic facility. It's our plan to use lightweight materials
for the socket and shank, and couple these with "multi-axial" feet and ankle systems. These "all terrain" components will allow Coco to get around
much better in his environment at the "Corner."
Two dirt roads diverged in Baja and I, I took the one less graveled by......

I saw Coco at the start line and just had time to say hello and some small talk. As the bikers came up to the start line most of them steered by him
for a hand shake and a few words etc. Several times I looked over at him and I could see tears welling up in his eyes. I think he was a very greatfull
man for all the support and encouragement and kind words directed toward him. I think he felt like he had more friends than anyone in the world. It
was a really good thing what Sal did at the drivers/riders meeting too.

we'll be going through the Corners in January, either going or coming from Bahia de Los Angeles and Punta San Francisquita. I hope like hell he is
there, won't be the same without a beer and guest book log in. We usually drop him some oranges, anything else he might need we can drop off (if he
is there at that time)?
Amazing to see those pics of him! Not too sure I'd have the same stamina and perseverance in the face of such adversity!

coco's cats
We pasted by Coco's in middle of Oct and again in the first week of Nov.. There were two of Coco's cats there hungry and thirsty.. We feed and watered
them.. On our return we took them a small bag of cat food..
Unfortunately, someone had broken into Coco,s building and I do not know if anything was stolen but if anything was left of any value I am sure it was
stolen.. We secured the door the best we could but of course could not lock it..
If you happen to going past Coco's please check on the cats,
take them some food and water..

The Jeeps passed by Coco's earlier this week, and we saw that everything was closed up. Some of his beer cans were taken down (stolen?), but nothing
looked vandalized, but we were driving and didn't stop. I will certainly have a Baja Grande t-shirt with Coco's Corner listed on it next year. I
hope he will be there...

Coco is in great spirits and believe it or not...IS DRIVING HIS OWN Car! I saw it with my own eyes on Saturday morning of the race, he stopped to let
my chase truck pull in front of him as we exited Hotel Corona...All I can say is "Wow"...
A slight correction on the sidecar guys..that team is All-American riding a Harley i.e. Hog Wild. In fact, the helmeted side-hack rider is Joe
Derouiser's, a Class 22 & 21 veteran racer for the past 20 years, as well as racing on DP Racing, a badazz San Diego based hardcore group of moto
pro's...
Those side-hacks are my heroes...riding a moto is tough enough but add that to the mix...
