OK, I get it you have not worked gangs on the border but have friends that have. Do not be so quick to think you know what others have done or do in their profession. I guess I did not make it understood enough when I said I had personal experience in dealing with issues down in Mexico, now do you get it???? The U.S.A. witnesses have recourse and protection, have you ever heard of a witness protection program in Mexico??? They have these witnesses or people that turned away from the drug cartel and we end up accepting them here in the U.S.A. for their cooperation. A prison doctor, rehab counselor and psychiatrist only get the information third or fourth hand filtered information. They have never worked these people on the streets and have no real clue what is actually happening out their other than what they have been told. I won't even get started on how psychiatrist only help these crooks make excuses for their learned chosen illegal behavior, which has nothing to do with mental health issues.
I have dealt with a number of these gang members, Cartel kingpins in my career and I sure did not see a one of these people you think knows something about what is happening on the streets or ever being with those that put it on the line. You are wrong about me encouraging people to support or be afraid of gangs, however in the U.S.A. we have some type of safeguards but even then sometimes people that come forward die. However, we are talking about Mexico Cartels and gang members that have no regard for human life. Without a doubt you are totally mistaken to think these crooks do not go after witnesses. You also seem to think newspapers or television reporters do not have people tied to the Cartels or gangs in Mexico, please. You are really very badly misinformed!! I am concerned about Nomads in Mexico thinking they have nothing to worry about when pointing these people out or giving information to what they think are safe sources to carry their information to those that will use it correctly. Again, since this is Mexico which at the current time can not even protect their own officials do you still think they are really worried about giving protection to Americans or Canadians down in Mexico?? American Law Enforcement do not even want to go into Mexico at the present time do not knowing who is who down there. These Cartels and gang members are killing anyone or anything in an immediate home attacks and yes they have come back and killed some more. You do not know enough on this subject to advise these Nomads living down there what to do. I know you think your helping and I only wish it was as you think it is but unfortunately it is not. So, yea since this is Mexico and we are talking about Cartels and gang members which are all totally ruthlessness and hell yes they really do kill witnesses. Have no doubt whatsoever what they will also do to the Americans or Canadians that step up to become informants, especially if they still remain in the same location in Baja. In fact, they are becoming what we call a TARGET!!!! I probably said more than I should but I know most of the Nomads living in Baja just want to live a "No Worry No Hurry Just Fun" Lifestyle and I do not want them to be thinking something is what it definately is not. I have seen enough of this crap for 34 years that I do not even want to have to deal with it when I retire, which hopefully with Gods will is very very soon. Later------ bajafun777

[*] posted on 12-16-2008 at 09:13 AM

gnukid, i am really glad to hear the South is doing so well but without a doubt the North is not. It is not based on fear what I wrote but again knowledge in dealing with these criminals for 34 years. I have seen so many cases go nowhere due to witnesses being killed, injured, or just plain scared off after seeing harm come to those they cared about and themselves. I have seen people in Mexico I thought were legit and then "bam" they are caught in the things they claimed to be fighting. Participated in Hooking and booking too many crooks to be afaid of them but again I am in the USA and Mexico is a whole different world especially by border towns. I am fearful for those that have lived their work lives planning for the experience of living the "easy on the easy" life. I know Mexican cops that have told me they do not know who the hell to trust even in their own department, now that is a sad day for all of them. I have talked to Mexican officers I have known that finally just quit and got out of law enforcement because they could not close their eyes and ears tight enough to accept what they were experiencing and again this is really a sad thing. Mexico has some well intended and professional types coming up that I have also met but the wear and tear of fighting corruption along with living to talk about it is getting harder and harder. So, those in the North live your dreams but do so with your eyes wide open and be well informed before putting yourself or your loved ones in possible danger. "No Hurry No Worry Just Fun" ahhhhhhhhhhhhh now that is what we are all talking about.
Wooosh you appear to be doing and taking the right precautions from what I have read in your posts. Labs don't they do some silly things as pups do to their experiences with their big feet and long legs as they grow fast but are still curious puppies, right?? Seems like they are always getting into something or chewing something up, so having toys they can chew on helps, however they still get into things they should not, right?? Hope, all Nomads have great wonderful safe holiday experiences and wooosh your pups will be your present, right?? Later----bajafun777

Hmmmm Good perspective. Perhaps as I play with my silly 1 year old Lab Sophie its easy to see the world as an amazing place to play games and tricks like stealing socks. I get to spend my free time patching the walls and corners where she chews and to revel in her "intelligence".

Stay cool. I am heading to TJ this week and to spend time in the region exploring many places I haven't spend much time for the months of Feb and March and then maybe I'll have a new perspective. Looking forward to meeting many of you during the adventure.

BTW- the news media does monitor the postings on this board and I was contacted by a reporter from San Diego.

Of course, the border region is more dangerous than BCS. That is where the drug cartel/smuggling action is.That is where the Arrellano Felix Cartel live. Other cartels, who are trying to move in on them, battle in the Arrellano Felix' home turf.

On the mainland, it is dangerous in many other locations as well as the border. Those locations are where other cartels originate and that is the turf they protect.

Any Mexican National will tell you they don't trust the police. It has always been that way. I have had some personal experiences which I won't go into for the sake of safety. None, by the way, had anything to do with drugs.

In Mexico, if anyone ever approaches you about drugs, asking questions, they may be looking for real information, or they may be looking for someone to frame. Sometimes these people will identify themselves as police by showing you their IDs or badges. These guys come on like they want to be your friend and they brag about what they do. They exude very sinister vibrations. Their intent is not benevolent. Best advise: just move away from them and get away!

We fun loving, Baja explorers and/or alien residents should never have to worry if you don't venture into the drug culture, which is everywhere.

Regarding reprisals on witnesses, don't think it doesn't happen. That is human nature! Guys who live within the culture of death and gang warfare have long ago abdicated their ethics. They are killers. That is what they do! They have the heavy weaponry. They have experience using them. They see it as their job. Why wouldn't they come after you? They would have no trouble finding you. Best advice: If you are a witness to a killing, get the hell out of there. For sure, don't tell about it here.

The best way to live as a citizen of the free world is to keep a low profile. Drink Pacifico and enjoy yourself. Do not allow the grip of FEAR to drive you. Drop the ego. Be vigilant in who you befriend. Times have changed in that we have incrementally learned to assimilate violence. If it doesn't touch you personally, it is easy to ignore it. I am not saying that is a very moral stance. Some choose to get involved and fight. Not me!

This kind of activity has always taken place in Mexico. It has greatly intensified in Northern Baja since the Arrelleno Felix kingpin was arrested while fishing and brought to San Diego. That signaled a perceived crack in their organization and has tempted other cartels to try to move in on their turf.

Be thankful that we have options. Don't forget that Nationals don't have anywhere to go. So far, we are not targets. If this changes, I am out of there; possessions be damned. I am watching, reading, talking to people, using my own intuition which always serves me well because I remain aware.

Gnukid - I don't wish to debate with you, because you claim to have inside knowledge and are some kind of clandestine operative. That automatically excludes me from having any useful knowledge of what you are talking about. All I have is opinion and my own experiences, which are really pretty innocent. My experiences are the same as anyone would encounter, anywhere in the world.

I will say, however, that it is conceivable to me that your scenario; government instigation and disinformation, is possible. If so, that would be a sub plot, or maybe a parallel plot that is operating concurrently with the Cartel scenario. To say the Cartel scenario is not really as it appears, to me, diminishes your credibility. We know what we see and hear. As to your scenario, I really don't want to know. It has no bearing on my life because I choose to live an uncomplicated, retired existence.

As I said, I am aware. So my attitude is not to be labeled as "Ostrich, head-in-the-sand." With Pacifico in hand, I try, though!

Toneart,

FYI change my disguise often and my locale. Usually I dress as an old person and try to fit in with the cruisers and nomads to sneak around. I change cars on short notice, carry no id. I do most of my observations from points so remote I can't even see anything except stars? So I have nothing to report except fishing stories, that fight between the snake and the eel and interesting rock outcrops that remind me of christmas cards. Lately I am heavily invested in using native herbs and fruits to cook fish. If I discover anything important I'll be sure to not let you know...

Woooosh, great litter of pups. I have 4 nieces and 1 nephew that had a chocolate and Blond lab that someone tried to break into their house and left the gate open. One tried to cross a trucking road several miles away and did not get across and kids were broken hearted. The other one got next to a neighbors dog that had distemper and it did not make it along with the family having the Vet charge them over $2,200 dollars for the time the male dog was with him. Again, the kids were heart broken and the next two dogs they got were those small sheppard looking sheep/cattle dogs that have filled the void. Are you feeding the mother different dog food right now??? Gnukid, when we meet up on my travels down south with my motorcycle I will buy a few cold ones for us to share and you can point out the taco stand to eat at. Just love going down the road with the wind in my face and smelling the ocean. You also take in the sights so much better, take care and keep your senses focused up in T.J. I am sure you can both get custom fitting aluminun foil hats if you wait for the black choppers. Do you two really function in this real world with these out of your mind thoughts in your heads. Its all about money and power. Nothing else. To try to bring in black opps stuff says a lot about your intake of drugs yourselves over the last few years.

What a load of self pontificating crap you two are spewing.

Actually, I used to live very close to an ex-army - now FBI training center in Monterrey, CA about ten years ago.

There are black helicopters. Three of them, with 3 guys on each side tethered and standing on the skids with assault riffle at the ready, flew only about 50 feet above my house on the way to a training session at the "Impossible City" at the old Fort Ord. This was where the special forces would train before the base was "closed".

They looked pretty much like this one:

I'm hear there are white helicopters with little red crosses on them too!

Hold on a minute noMADs,

Don't forget to celebrate the GOOD news here !!!

ELEVEN new lab puppies ! ! !

Congrats, Woosh! I'm sure you're a very proud and doting grandpa!

And for a most important question....:

Are there Eleven functioning "faucets" too.... (That's what my dad called em when out C. Spaniel had 13 puppies in 1965 :-)... All 13 survived and found loving homes.)

Merry Christmas, Amigo

Gracias for the kind words.

The pups are doing great- even the Sire is helping keep them clean. There is one small female (all weighed daily) that I put a string on her neck to make sure she gets the best seat at the diner. She only has ten seats for 11 customers- so they eat in shifts. We don't do reservations. I don't think it's a big deal- same thing as a woman feeding triplets, right? The mom is on dry puppy food (Iams) plus calcium supplements, cottage cheese and canned puppy food. They say to feed the Dam 3 times normal while they are kicking into the serious milk-production stage. She's still skinny but in a week or so I'll cut her back to normal so she doesn't get fat. We're busy for the holidays I guess- hope yours are happy too.

Actually, if you have any reading comprehension skills you would see that I do not buy gnukids story for my belief system. I suggested that if his theory system were true, it would be parallel to what I and most others (Cartel Drug Turf War) see as what is really going on. I do not confront people by nullifying their beliefs. That is not my style. Anything is possible. I am not in the loop that gnukid claims to participate in, and I very clearly told gnukid that I am not qualified to debate him on that subject. That is his issue.

Go back and read my post. It is clearly written. What I suspect is that, being a newby, you are the reemergence of the same (and only) person that has ever stalked me on this website. You keep finding your way back here and with your malicious intent, you will again be banned shortly. So have at it. The sooner the better.

The only other explanation is that you are a ha ha ha ha ha inarticulate dummy who cannot contribute anything meaningful to this forum because you can't read or write. I do not know gnukid. I do not agree with gnukid, but the kid can write. I would never be rude enough to insult him intentionally. You, however, can go pound sand! You are irrelevant. Here...wear this: :barf:

Now it is clear, The c-ckroach is back. He was deported from Baja for threatening to kill the wrong person. And now he is stalking me again. He threatened me on Off Topic. I reported him. He will not be here long. There is nothing playful or debatable about this guy. He goes straight for the throat.
