Baja Hwy travel thievery warning!
Another traveller camping rig broken into - same old location.
Y'all are reminded that if you stop at the sand flats at the south end of Bahia Concepcion at about KM 75, to dig clams or walk on the beach, DON'T
LEAVE VEHICLE UNATTENDED!!!
Just met an unhappy guy here in Loreto who got broken into 20 minutes after leaving his rig parked on the beach to walk in the sunshine. Lost computer
& 2 cameras, misc other stuff.
This is the third breakin at that location that I, personally, have been told about. It has been going on for several years & the cops haven't
done anything about it. They know where these desperados campo is on the road to the old Manganese mine. Local residents like Pompano can back up this
story.
2 years ago, I took some of our people to clam at this beach, and stayed in my truck. Sure enough, 15 minutes later this gang of thieves came skulking
around trying doors. I set off my own car alarm and chased them thru the scrub with my truck until everyone came back - alarm going the whole time!
Didn't manage to run any down, tho ...

Yes, this has been going on for many years. We knew of the problem, and still got hit-duh. I always thought it was the rancho folks. It's incredible
they've not busted those basdtards.
We went for clams last week, and were dumbfounded. We've always been able to dig all the clams we wanted, in a very short time. We found nada, not
one, zero in our favorite spot. We finally managed to find some, tho not many. So, anybody know why, what's up?

These guys are also responsible for breakins at Requeson. When our house at Buenaventura was burgeled Rancho folks were suspected.
The police were no help at all...they wanted gas money to come out and "investigate"...this has been going on for several years....They seem to know
when houses are vacant, and they watch folks park and leave there vehicles on the beaches...would love to set up a sting and have a "talk " with
them..........
Mexico!! Where two can live as cheaply as one.....but it costs twice as much.....

We got a little sloppy with our security 3 years ago same spot doing the same thing and the SOB stung us for about $150 and my buddy for $270 (it was
in peso's), didn't take the credit cards, cameras or anything else he just wanted the cash. We didn't see him initially but some other gringos showed
up while he was going through the trucks they scared him off and yelled to us we were being robbed. When we got to the truck they showed us where he
went and we split up and looked for him, I ended up back on the hwy at the top where I could look through the desert while my freind continued to
drive around trying to find the guy. After about 15 minutes I could here my freinds wife on the VHF she said they had found him but he ran into the
desert so we drove to their location just in time for the guys to come back out of the cactus they said he had pulled a knife and waved it around
before running so they grabbed a shovel and went after his burro. We drove around a little while longer and all of the sudden a little datsun pickup
went racing towards the highway so we gave chase, just before hitting the pavement the truck stopped and an old mexican got out and asked us what the
heck we were doing, we told him it was a mistake we thought he was someone else. Just as the old guy was getting back in his truck a younger mexican
man walked out of the bushes and he fit our freinds description to a T, before I could do anything my wife was out of the truck confronting him and
calling him a theif demanding our money back by the time I got there she had demanded he empty his pockets and he complied, no money, just a knife!
The old guy was still watching and we didn't know what to do we didn't really have any evidence and although I probably could have beat him up it
wouldn't get my money back and if I was wrong about him--- well mexican jail doesn't really appeal to me so we let him go, he jumped in the back of
the old guys truck and headed south towards Loreto. We figured he stashed the money somewhere and would come back to get it so we poked around a
little but didn't find anything. Well it was kinda exciting but I think I'll stick to Yellowtails. Lesson learned, Always lock your doors!!!! It only
cost me $150.

Banditos
Got me two yrs ago, had parked on the beach near the big tree facing toward the beach. Had been warned about them, so thought I was watching. They had
to low crawl to the car and took out a side window as to not set off alarm. crawled in, got 5yr old camera, us cell phone and cheap binox. Window was
worth more than what they got. Now we always leave someone with the car.
