good morning packoderm,
well, i guess there will never be an american president who was a football player (means real football, what you call soccer).
simple reason for that, as a football(soccer) player you got to have brain to join a team and to be a team player.
there is never a single player in football(soccer) who can make a goal > rules are making real football a team sport with brain use.
also, no player is allowed to hide the ball, like it is in american rugby-"football".
taking the ball (do americans know to play football with a ball instead of an egg??) in the hands and then simply running away from the other guys and
placing the ball behind enemies lines is , well , what is it?
hide and seak, yea that's what it is.
that american "football" is like chess???
i totally disagree in that.
chess also is with strong brain use.
like war > yea, you got that right.
it is like war! yea i agree!
that's what it is.
making war is one of the best known things the americans accomplish.
(now it's getting political and i, for my part wants to stop at this point. acknowledging
that we are using a BAJA forum.)
but please explain that with(quote) in rugby-football to me please, will you?
maybe we should use our e-mails for to continue this 'game'? for not to stress this forum.
but if i'm understanding your comment correctly: american "football" is the sport for highschool- and college students only.
whenever an american is out of that age, he is a whimp, correct?
at least that's what you are stating.
BOB: to understand football - what the world calls football - means not the "football" the americans play by using their hands - is a game where you
don't wait on 100 goals per game.
that makes it so exciting.
not quantity,,,, quality is the sense of the game !
and about the suspense in football(soccer for your understanding)????
hey you are contradicting yourself.
the suspense in soccer is simply the question: who can make a goal , maybe two.
again, the suspense lies in the quality, not in the quantity.
let's face it folks: the world is playing football in the meaning of the word.
FOOTBALL!
the americans play "football" with the hands because they don't know the difference between feet and hands.
then they are hiding the ball under the ellbow and carrying behind enemy lines.
lets sum it up.
football like the world is playing it, is simply the fine art of playing with a ball. while american "football" is some kinda war-game for youngsters
- as packoderm stated correctly.
folks have fun with your next ballgame.
and let the eggs at home with mama.
Sincerely
Germanicus

jrbaja,,,, you are damn right!
And , yes, I knew it the moment I posted.
Anyway, that's why I suggested if somebody wants to continue, we should use our e-mails for something like that.
This Baja forum is simply not the place for contradicting opinions about "football" or football or fotbol, or>>?>> played with hands or feet > it
doesn't matter > it doesn't belong here.
I agree.
theme, rest in peace!
Y'all have fun!

Germanicus,
Americans simply don't get soccer, and you know what? thats absolutely great, let them have their own sports, and let us the world, enjoy ours.
How many nations play for the top tittle at the world cup?
How many nations play for a championship at the Superbowl? or "World" series?
That pretty much anwsers everything, let them have their games.

well, if I'm watching U.S. News, (which is basicly timewasting) I never know whats true and whats false.
Mostly I'm deviding all I hear by 2.
Then I'm cutting the best news away and the rest is what I concider to believe.
But I got a question: How can anybody support a President who is constantly faking every thing and lieing to his fellow Americans
Everything means everything like:
Saddam has WMD>we gotto to go to war.
Bin Laden is the mastermind behind 9/11.
Saddam has AlQaida connections?
And what about the Brits??
Well, we do have an English Lady here in this Forum and I highly appreciate her well based comments. So, please, she is excluded as a Brit in here)
So, I guess the constant "yessayers" should declare their English Island as the 51st state of the U.S.
That makes high sense to me.
First we are getting the tax money and Europe is getting rid of that problem to convince them to join the EU.
But there is one downsize.
The Brits are thinking mostly with the wrong side of their brain.
See thats why they are using the wrong side of the street.
So, what can we do with them if they join in as the 51 state?
Any suggestions?
Have fun with the Brits!

When I am at a resort in Baja and there is an American football game playing on the tv above the bar, I think of these things:
American football is very much indeed similar in strategy to chess. The head coach aligns various players as offensive while allocating others to
protect the quarterback much as a chess player would do with his chess pieces. Make no mistake, American football involves studied strategy of the
highest order, and even common players often stay awake at night contemplating these strategies.
As for U.S. presidents, Jerry Ford was such an outstanding center for the Michigan Wolverines football team, both the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay
Packers offered the collegiate M.V.P. professional contracts. He chose to study law, instead.
I would say, actually, that soccer is more like basketball except you cannot touch the ball with your hands, and it is played outdoors.
As for wimps, I would say yes, once a good player gets on in years, his muscles atrophy and arthritis will tend to set in rendering him less capable
to engage in the rough-and-tumble yet disciplined sport, but I was really talking about pencil-necked geeks and wimps in general that must cede the
action of organized American football to the more athletically endowed and powerfully built individuals able to follow instructions with precision,
meld with his co-players as a team, and display heroic valor as the situation calls for to be suitable to play America's unique sport.
As for rugby, granted it is tough, but it is a bit like playing hot-potato, or as some (one person comes to mind) might spell it, hot-potatoe.

Mood: wondering about Nomads!

world superstars
was a network TV contest that ran 1977 to 1982 or so, bringing notable atheletes together to compete for cash prizes in a variety of events. Football
players were among the contestants, but all failed to register as winners. Two pole vaulters, a Formula One race car driver and a soccer player took
top prizes. The soccer player, a Canadian named Brian Budd, won it three times in a row. My only point here is to say soccer players aren't always
dimwitted (at the European Cup level they never are) and are often the best atheletes.

I remember those. They seemed to go at length to make sure the events didn't favor the bodybuilders, wrestlers, and football players. I remember how
they loved puting a ballet dancer or a long-distance runner along side a buffed-out bodybuilder and see who could do something silly the most times in
a set amount of time. Maybe they should have included the carrying of the refrigerator on their backs race and blowing up hot water bottles like they
had on the strong-man contests that occured during the same time.

I heard once on a sports talk radio show on how it would be if soccer was the number one sport in the U.S. Can you imagine the elite of the athletes
currently playing American Footbal, Baseball and Basketball were all playing Soccer/Futbol instead? We'd be rockin' the house.

Just have patience
You don't have to be 300 pounds or 6'6" to play soccer. So we'll have plenty of talent to left over to pick from once we put our minds to it.

Yes, you are right, JZ. But I was thinking how an athlete along the lines of let's say a Dante Hall would fare if he was a professional soccer/futbol
player instead of an NFL punt returner. Strength, quickness and MOVES. And a goalie 6'6" or better with the quick also would not hurt. Big ol'
wingspan.
And if they get hurt, there is always that WWII canvas stretcher available to haul them to the sidelines! And if they make a goal, they can pull
their shirt up over their mug, and break out into an airplane run....
