Serena Healthcare
Yesterday we attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Serena assisted living facility in Rosarito.
I was very skeptical about this, eh -- you know, "Get the aged, wizened gringos to move down here and then we can bill US Medicare and etc."
Well, I have to admit I was impressed with the facility and the organization. The Lieutenant Governor (?) of Baja, Sr. Bustamante, cut the ribbon,
but more importantly, there is a dedicated and very skilled staff on site.
Right now, it is a twelve-bed, 5,000 sq. ft. building. Every single inch is spic-and-span.
Less importantly, the food (appetizers, hamburgers and tacos perrones) and the service was attentive and excellent.
They don't take dogs, so I won't be checking in, but they have an impressive and seems-to-be-well-thought-out living program, including adult day
care.
I'm not recommending this place, but it is well worth investigating.

Jan- There's been one near Puerto Vallarta for a couple of years. Seems that some enterprising folks saw the opportunity. All things considered, it
looks like a winner.

Anthony's in Ensenada has offered around the clock care for years. It's said that some clients never leave. They really, really like it there.
Now....If they can only get Medicare to help with the bill................

Dennis,
While Medicare will cover a skilled nursing facility if you spend down to the destitute level,
They consider assisted living facilities to be "a luxery"
The three thousand a month we pay for my Mother is cash only.

I would consider Anthony's to be a "skilled nursing facility".

The Medicare issue has been debated for years. The fact that Mexican facilities already charge much less than similar facilities in the States, would
appear to be a match made in heaven. Medicare, if extended across the border, could actually benefit from the lower prices. Seems like a win-win to
me. But, will it ever happen?

Cha Cha of Cha Cha's Cafe in Rosarito is a retired nurse who offers "Incare" for seniors in the Rosarito area.
I met her about seven or so years ago when she first opened her coffe/sandwich spot, but I do not have an email address for her.

Incare its up stairs from her restaurant. I understand she has opened up an assisted living facility also. I wish my mom was still living here in Baja
she would love to live there. It just wasn't soon enough for us, that was 3 years ago. Good Luck with your search. She does in home service also, that
is what she was doing for my mother. if your parents need some help she's perfect for the job,k
