Bahia Asuncion Festival Queen

We were excited to find out our neighbor and good friend Bianka Robles was named the Queen for this year's Fiesta. She is a delightful young lady and know she will wear the crown with dignity and beauty. Congrats Bianka!

This year's fiesta starts 8/15 and runs for 4 days.

Hey Zac....there are several candidates for FIesta queen...the one who raises the most money wins...it's not about beauty and is often about the family with the most ties or the most popular family or family that can fund raise the best...the Queen will be announced on the opening night of the fiestas...perhaps you misunnderstood them...but we will be rooting for her....or buying stuff from her.

How do they raise the money and what is it used for? What do they sell? We are supposed to head home just before the Fiesta starts but might have to stay for at least one night....hmmmm

Zac,
Is the girl on the right---right as you look at the picture your friend? Suzy, the other girl introduced her to us, but I forget her name.

She was selling photos at the bike races to raise money. We donated.

They seem to sell different things---last year one was selling eggs.

Last years queen the day after she was crowned.

Queen from the year before being crowned. It doesn't happen until after 10pm, but it is fun.

The fiesta time is fun.

Yes, that's her and she will often have Gabriel in her arms when we're in town. She wants to study here in San Diego and might live with us, if and when, that happens.

I thought that it might be her---I thought I remembered that name, but was not sure. Nice young lady and obviously good friends with Suzy who is also a really nice person and was REALLY promoting her.

Glad we donated and will do so again when we return.
