BajaNet.com

The domain name bajanet.com is dropping back into the pool of available domain names as of tonight.

Because there's demand for the domain because of a high amount of traffic still from lots of links to it on the 'net (called "linkpop"), the only way to acquire it is through services that specialize in being first on the list to acquire dropping domain names. Could also be in demand by someone from another Baja-related website with the means to pay the fee as well.

Reference to linkpop:
http://www.freewho.com/linkpop/?q=BAJANET.COM

The more successful of these domain-capture services put it up for auction, and the domain, if they acquire it, goes to the highest bidder. One of those auctions ended today, there will be another tomorrow.

The auction today ended with a winning bid of $3000. Attached is a screen capture showing the next available bid at $3010 when the auction closed.

Anyone want to make a run for it in the auction tomorrow?

If any new folks don't know the significance of bajanet.com, it was the domain of the Amigos de Baja web site and the major Baja discussion forums before Doug's BajaNomad.com attained that status (following the retirement of Amigos de Baja from the Internet).

I had many links on various web pages to bajanet.com and as I run across them, I change the URL to Doug's forums or my list of forums. There still may be some links out there to the former Amigos site... let's hope that the new domain owner doesn't disgrace it in any way.
