Passport renewal - Cabo San Lucas

Renewed my passport at the Cabo San Lucas consulate office this morning. Hours are 0900 to 1400 Monday thru Friday, closed on both US and Mexican holidays. Parking was a bit of a circus since the roads downtown are torn up and closed.

Requirements:
- fill out passport renewal application (they have forms)
- one passport picture (there is a photo shop around the corner they send you to) I don't know why they require 2 pictures in the US
- your expiring passport
- copy of the first page of your passport
- US$75 (or equivalent in pesos) cash only, no checks

They verify that the passport copy is the same as your passport, certify the copy and retain it, and then give your passport back to you. It takes 2 to 3 weeks to get your new passport. They will send you an email when it arrives or you can call the office in 3 weeks.

There were no lines and the whole process including filling out the form and getting a passport picture was less than 30 minutes. Very easy, no hassle, much easier than renewal in the US.
