Medicare Costs
Beyond the question of Medicare at facilities not subject to U.S. oversight, the argument that "Preventative" care and "Early" Intervention would be
cost-effective is incorrect.
Strictly from an Economic point of view (disregarding any moral questions), "Late" Intervention results in lower overall costs. Higher mortality, of
course.
It's been pointed out in study after study that "preventative" medicine, especially in older persons, results in higher overall costs.
When spending Tax Dollars, the program that makes the most Economic sense is that which should be chosen. That isn't usually the case, BUT it should
be.

This idea has been around for a number of years. I think it's interesting that the e-mailer runs an assisted living facility in Rosarito. I would
think that those eligible for Medicare living close to the border, go North on a regular basis. I do know of a similar facility in Puerto Vallarta.
Folks down there don't cross the border so easily.

Am I to understand that the Mexico would allow a U.S. agency to operate within its borders?
Or, the Mexican government would administrate the program solely for the expat community?
Either way, it would be a cluster**** of grand proportion.

thanks for the info Keri. Unlike private insureres in the US, Medicare has basically no screening on claims and therefore has the highest fraud rate
of any health care program available. Unless they can do something to correct that issue, the problems arising from paying out of country providers
could prove to be insurmountable.
Of course the other side of the issue is that if the ridicoulous plan now being suggested by the present administration were ever put into play,
going to Mexico for your healthcare, may be the only feasible economic solution to how the government could hope to pay for the suggested system. It
already seems to work well in the Algodones area where all of Yuma and the El Centro Valley come there for dental, medical, and vision services.
Shoot, the more I think of this idea, I have a good chance of becoming the new health czar.
