Baja Mariscos don't get any better than...
...Mariscos la Guerra (La Glorieta/Playas de Tijuana) Tijuana
...Restaurante Los Arcos, Tijuana
...Ortegas, Puerto Nuevo
Anyone have 3 favorites to offer?

Sorry, I have four.
Thanks Ken I'll make a note though I don't hang in TJ much. Perhaps Ortegas. What do you recommend there?

In 2005, we all got together and sponsored a US Marine and his son to go to Baja one last time before he was deployed/moved to HI.
US Marine John V. in Baja w/JustRuns 4WD Club of San Diego & 4x4 Survivor Club of Tijuana, Mexico.
Part of the send off included an all-inclusive dinner for him and his son at Ortega's in Puerto Nuevo. He also received some books from 'Nomads here
as well as a full tank of gasoline, a day's insurance, stickers, and this neat video. Everyone enjoyed the food. He is still looking forward to the
day when his family returns. We promised him a Baja Homecoming party as well.

$5 Buffet in TJ
China de Oro - La Glorieta, Tijuana (near Carl's Jr.)
$5 includes all the Chinese food you can eat.
The Sushi, Almond Cookies, soft serve ice cream - and soft drinks are all included.
Yes, the place gets crowded with locals!

Mariscos, Yum!
Tacos JR (1/2 mile south of the Rosarito Beach Hotel, just past the Pemex, on the ocean side of the free road).
Tacos Cantamar, next to the Pemex, just to the left of the closed Palms Restaurant at the Cantamar exit.
Mariscos Alegria in Primo Tapia on the east side of the free road, about half way through, in a "mini-mall that is next to the very busy vidrieria
(glass and screens shop) and the also very busy llantera (tire and other car repair), which I think are owned by relatives.
We have been regular customers of these places for years. Always great tasting food, very clean and good food handling procedures and very good
prices, i.t., the locals go there.

Maybe that's what they call 'harina' (flour) in Colombia?
Ken is just overworked and cramming for his Masters degree... I think we can give him a pass this time!

I agree with 805 that grilled wahoo rocks! Like a cross between white sea bass and yellowfin. But the best mariscos is always something you eat fresh
a few hours after catching it (digging it out?) on a secluded beach off road in your own fave spot with good friends and good wine (feel free to
substitute your fave booze or none at all.) It can still be done in Baja which I guess is the point of why we are all here! Call me crazy, but even
the common Spotted Bay Bass (1-2 pounder dressed/slashed sides and baked/grilled on the fire) beats about anything you can find in your typical U.S.
"fresh" fish market! And I could go on and on about the joys of fresh Triggers. That said, I honestly feel I am missing something not eating more of
the local fare and stopping to eat at many of the places mentioned.

The best fish tacos are in Playas de TIjuana behind the movie theater and across the door from Caliente. Go to the taco stand, not the restaraunt
that's behind it.

Mariscos Chemel in Tecate...hard to beat walkup...a lot of local ranchers go there from the surrounding area. Fish, shrimp, mantarilla tacos, siete
mares, campechana, ostion, almejas, pulpo, todos !
At the main intersection B4 you head to the entrance of Estero Bch. Resort...the family there owns a stand and sells ceviche pescado, almejas
gratinada, campechana, coctel camarron, and a bunch of other stuff...muy sabroso!
Coming into San Quintin...a couple of mariscos that sell almejas ahumada, fish tacos, etc.

Don`t have to go to TJ for Los Arcos! They opened one in Chula Vista, and it was just reviewed (favorable) by Westways mag!

Los Arcos has been open for at least a year in Chula Vista. Despite the raves in Westways, they have decidedly mixed reviews on Yelp.
