Road from TS to LaPaz

If anyone is considering doing this drive at night... DON'T!!!:o

Although the four lanes are progressing, there are incredibly dangerous drop offs and lane merging/changes that are totally unmarked. It was confusing during the day. I can't imaging how dangerous it would be at night!!! Be cautious!!

Remember, when in Mexico, yes may be no and no may be
maybe!

Agreed Marie-Rose...not to mention cows and cars going faster due to multiple lanes.

Here is what I don't understand; supposedly the 4 lane highway along the corridor between San Jose and Cabo is the most dangerous road due to high speeds and reckless driving. Why do they think a 4 lane highway from La Paz to Cabo wouldn't increase traffic fatalities due to increasing speeds? Anyone have any opinions on this?

Now I do enjoy the wider highways when driving into Cabo and La Paz from TS area but isn't it just a matter of time before these highways become more dangerous due to increased speeds like they've seen in Cabo? Or could this issue never really arise due to less amount of traffic on these roads vs Cabo 4 Lane.

Hmmm. Last made that trip in July. I have no idea how the construction has progressed just North of Todos, but the completed section seemed to me to be among the best engineered roads I've been on in Mexico. It makes the toll road between Rosarito and Ensenada seem to be a cow path. I recall they had a speed limit posted of 90kph. I thought to myself it should be more like 90mph. I'm just guessing that the problems referred to by Marie-Rose may be on the section that may have been completed since I was there. Bear in mind that most of this section is completely rural. Not so the four lane twixt Cabo and San Jose. That four lane was not engineered nearly as well, and there are numerous driveways and much local traffic.

High Risk Until Completed

Agreed, the fourlane is going to be a terrific road when completed, but the unmarked dropoffs are extremely dangerous at night, wouldn't drive it on a bet. The absence of highway striping and reflector markings on the unfinished portion closest to Cabo also make for hair raising night time driving. Same situation as the first 15 miles out of Ensenada.
