I started my FaceBook page this past summer as my 30th High School re-union was coming up. Great way to keep in touch with friends and family. Very
user friendly.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

I got on FB this last summer. It started while searching for connections to a bad business deal, but I ended up finding a few HS friends.
I reached out to a couple HS friends who were important to me, and one reply I got was " OMG! I've been looking for you for 2 1/2 years!". I had her
physical mailing address and I think she had mine, but that is so ...."old school"...that I really didn't know how to go about contacting her!
I thought about a phone call..............no.....
Since that initial contact on FB I have connected with all but one of the HS friends I've always wondered about. It's not a big "circle of friends",
less than 10.
But they were and are still important to me and I valued their friendship then and now. So if FB can help reconnect with some past friends.....It's a
GOOD thing!
But like all good things, it can be overdone! One friend is on FB more than some Nomads are on BajaNomads! Hard to believe it but it's true!
And I have also had contacts from some distant acquaintances that I thought was kinda strange, so I ignored them. I knew who they were, but did not
consider them friends except that we went to the same school.
NO twitter!

I use it all the time. even on my cell phone. Then again, I am a lot younger than most Nomads. Both of my parents are on there.

I also have a facebook page, and my profile is no different than the one I use on Nomads. The foto is way different though.

"Twitter" is a noun, not a verb. Therefore, one cannot Twitter, one can only Tweet.
I believe this makes the score 3 - 2, my flavor. Not that I'm counting.

Ok...you're going to make me s'plain myself.
See the edit? I originally had said "Tweet", but I thought the term would be lost of some, and others may have wondered about making noises...didn't
want to go there... hence the change.
You may have noticed that a number of nouns have made the transition to verbs...
Do you "Party?" Do you "Friend" someone of Facebook"? You've never "Googled"?
"Texting" must drive you crazy.
The word 'verb' is a noun. Let's come full circle and call it the verbing of nouns.
What's the score now, Twit??

I posted info on the Dia de Reyes event to my Facebook friends just now....

I have a Facebook page. I reluctantly signed up at the urging of kids and grandkids, and all of a sudden found myself in contact with a bunch of old
friends that I had not communicated with in years, including some I knew when I lived in Brazil 45 years ago. I read today that there are 350 million
Facebook members. Like David, I find it kind of cumbersome to use, and very non-intuitive. Nonetheless I am there. |

I have almost the exact experience about facebook as Ken Bondy except for the Brazil thing. The concept of finding old friends and keeping in touch
with an extended group of friends and family is appealing enough to put up with it's problems.

I confess to being a Facebook marooon despite having my own page.
Reading this thread it occurred to me that I could share a few pictures of my last two dive trips (Bahia Torgugas/Punta Eugenia and San Francisquito)
that are on my "wall". Do I have to be "friends" before people can view my pictures?

You might want to look at Flickr. It's a very social photo hosting site, easy to use and a lot of fun. Makes it easy to post photos here on Nomad,
or any other site that accepts photos. ++Ken++
PS I want to see your dive photos, particularly from San Francisquito
carpe diem!
