Baja Winemakers Buying a Village in France?

Here is a link to an interesting discussion on the wine business in Baja:

That confirms my opinion that Baja wine is on decline. Its like Japanese winemakers buying land in Napa. Why?

We're getting LA Cetto Nebbiolo in Hermosillo for 150 pesos at Costco. If I'm not mistaken, it's about 7 years old. Pretty good.

Several of the posters in that thread are ignoring the obvious about :

1-why Rick Bayless serves almost no Mexican wines,
2-why Mexican vintners are uninterested in the US market

The wines are generally not that good and overpriced when compared to what we can get down here from Chile, Argentina, Spain and So. Africa. They cant compete.

Sorry to continually beat this dead horse, but there are so few good values in Mexican wine, comparatively speaking.

I find it amusing that so many of the posters seem to want to buy Mexican wines simply because they are from Mexico or are grown so close to the US.

I have tried many wines from new boutique wineries in the Guadalupe Valley lately. They are good, i wouldn't say very good. But expensive. Couldn't find anything decent at less than 200 pesos, and for that price, i can get a far better Chilean, Argentinian, or even Spanish.

Theres only 3 wines that i consider fair priced for the quality of the wine:

1.-2007 Tres Valles Kojaa, a petit sirah at about 300 pesos.
2.-2006 LA Cetto petit sirah for 80 pesos.
3.-2006 Rincon del Baron, double blanc at about 180 pesos.
