Outboard Motor swap

I have a Mercury 9.9 HP, 2-stroke longshaft. Great as a kicker for larger boat. I need a lighter engine for an inflatable.Something around 5-6 HP shortshaft and 4stroke to use in california. Will swap. I live in Palm Springs. The 9.9 comes with 2 fuel tanks w/hoses.

It's unlikely that you will find a 4 stroke motor that is less weight than a 9.9 two stroke which has about half the parts. The 9.9 two stroke is among the most common and efficient designs most likely a 6hp 4 stroke is using the same structure as a 9.9 4 stroke and is much heavier.

In any case you may have much easier time selling this one and buying a new or used one if that's required by your local waterway.
