Layoff and BAJA...
We had a fire where I work that did a lot of damage...especially the smoke and water...just got a letter in the mail for my "layoff" for two
weeks....(estimated)...this is aerospace and they always take longer than they say ...so who knows...now thinking about packing up for a surf trip for
next week for about a week in duration...may go to ABREOJOS...maybe stop in San Carlos on the way down...I love summer...and no job.....

Jim... I nominate you to check out the 7 Sisters coast road... bring paper, pencils, GPS, notepad, camera! I will sponsor you with a case of Pacificos
(I understand this will just get you started, but perhaps more sponsors will chip in)

Just swap the Chevy for a Toyota and no tow truck or sat phone needed! Better still, lay me off my irrigation business and I will join you with my
rig...

Only problem with the 7 sisters will be that they will be mostly surfless this time of year, blocked to south swells. I think I'd just blow on by to
Abre. You dog Jim! I'm saving all my vacation time for the big money payout when I take the permanent vacation July 1, 2005. Will settle for local
waves and quick strikes south until then. "Stayin' alive for 05."
No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

Truck is at the dealer right now ...but hope it is finished soon...repair of some welds in the pickup bed...ripping apart...probably from the baja
washboard...but I will start packing my gear.....wrong time for sisters I know....so that area would be a long shot....(but will consider it if you
think you have time off also DK)....would be an adventure.....
Sidenote...planning to retire "soon"....but may really be next year after 25 years ...sometime after March.....

Jim, I wish I could go with you. I need two or three more years before I can retire. David, are you going? You guys make me feel like I want to
abandon regular life and go..... dang.

Just a little longer
When I worked at the big train place in San Francisco, one of my Chief Clerks used to come and tell me his plans for "next year" when he was 65 and
would retire. Great plans about places he wanted to see and things to do. Two weeks before his retirement date, I went to his funeral. This was not
an isolated case but happens a lot. Sooo if there's something you really want to do - do it now. there may not be a later.
