Rip Van Winkle?? Check out search. And, btw, as I recall, you are like 800 miles away from Rosarito. no disrespect intended.

I did, nothing came up. Perhaps you would be so kind and helpful as to post a link.

I know I'm 900 miles away. Is there a mileage limit to inquiries?

Is probably being blocked by Mexico. The story of the 2 carjackings only came out locally in print- but not on the web. The San Diego media refused to cover it, even when challenged to. They feel these are local-interest stories only that have no interest to people like you north of the border. The media has been specifically threatened not to report these type events. period.

The purpose of my post was to find out if any Nomad had any first hand knowledge of these incidents. I guess not. I searched the forum and nothing came up. Lo siento, mea culpa.

These incidents were reported in the local Mexican media and disseminated on various gringo blogs and this site. Links have been provided.

Oxxo, you mention you are a full time SOB resident. For comparison, if you were a Mexican national living in Portland, would you expect news of two local carjackings against Mexican citizens published in the LA Times be made available...in Spanish?

While threats were issued, I doubt that the U.S. press takes them seriously...do you?

Wooosh, do you have evidence that these incidents were a direct result of specifically targeting gringos, or simply crimes of opportunity?

I know you were all worried chiittless, but after driving the infamous corridor this morning, I have nothing to report except one curious detail. At the mid-cuota military check point, the soldier with the red flag was an extremely cute young lady, battle rattle head to toe. That's the first female I've seen on the front lines.
Actually about all I could see was her face and if I'm mistaken, all I can hope is that the young man never has to go to jail. :(

If they ever go looking for and catch the carjackers- they can ask them. Who knows? It's still just a local interest story.:saint:
