Hola Ron..

You are doing it the right way, asking first.

I don't know of anyone more experienced and knowledgable about kayaking around Baja than my old friends, Trudi Angell and Joe Sedavic. I've done a bit of kayaking on the Sea of Cortez, and a couple of other places, but these two are first class experts and what I know cannot compare with thier knowhow. (Nowadays, I just kayak locally and use the sit-on-top Cobras.)

Joe:

Joe's a Baja neighbor of mine. Joe's company built Seda kayaks...many different models.

Joe is one of those remarkable types who excell at everything they put thier hands to. He has pretty much done it all..and is still doing it to this day. An explorer and adventurer..he kayaks, designs kayaks, Zodiaks the Inland Waterway to Alaska, sails to Hawaii, speaks good Czech (for a Czech) and I am pretty sure he would like to see the far side of the moon.

I love Joe. For some fun, read this about him:

For some of Joe's info on kayaks:

Trudi:

Trudi also does trips with NOLS, another nieghbor of mine in Coyote Bay. NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) does several kayak trips a year from here down the coastlne of Baja.

You might contact NOLS and ask them your questions, too. I am sure they could provide a wealth of first hand information.

I have known Trudi Angell since she started here in the '70's. Not only an expert kayaking guide, but also an outfitter into the Baja outback. Certainly one of the most experienced and knowledgeable people I know concerning kayaking, trekking, mule trips,...heck, all outdoor adventure in Baja.

Some info about Trudi:

"Trudi has been paddling and exploring the coast of Baja since 1976. Now living in Loreto, Trudi leads a few kayak trips each season and most of the mountain pack trips. Her main focus recently has been riding mules with her daughter, Olivia, along the length of the Baja peninsula following the historical routes of El Camino Real."

You could not go wrong contacting either for advice about kayaking Baja. Good luck and bon voyage.
