New camera

I've had my new camera for about 3 weeks now and I've been taking it with me for my morning walks on the beach. As I walk along I take various shots to learn how to operate the thing changing settings as I go. After they are in the computer I can evaluate what I'm doing and adjust. Over time I have learned that I don't like to be surprised or rushed so I don't get many shots of things that move around like gulls and pelicans. Dead birds and fish are a lot easier to shoot -- I can take my time, set things up, make sure the lighting and everything about the shot is the way I want it. Sooo I'm stoked. There are lots of dead fish and birds around these beaches so expect a lot of really crisp pictures. Wow!

The next wish list could be a monopod. That way you can use it for walking and then to steady your camera for a sharper picture (not that the flowers aren't sharp mind you).

I agree about a monopod.

Here is the one I got for my D90. The Q/R plate on this head interfaces with the Manfrotto tripod I have, too. So, I can keep the same plate on the cam and use either one, depending on the situation.

This is an inexpensive option as I didnt want the added weight/cost of a head that flipped vertically.

After hearing how Osprey mistreated the poor little hummingbirds and painted them different colors, I can just imagine how he is going around getting pelicans and seagulls to volunteer for his photoshoots.
