I caught up with Jonathon in La Paz at the TailHunter Restraurant and Bar he owns and operates...it was fabulous, that was only a couple days ago. If you are in La Paz take a stroll inside and have a drink or 100...it was a fun time.

What a great guy!

:-)

Tim, did you bump into Johnny Johnson in La Paz? He is a yachty now, but being the overall winner of the 1973 Baja 1000 (with Bobby Ferro) and many other Baja races back then, he may have been poking around the NORRA finish line or fiestas? Johnny had a VW buggy shop in Santee years ago.

I dove around the old mill in the 1950s & 1960s-- Almost deserted at that time...

A few years ago My wife and I had dinner there..It was acceptable.

Of interest was the two diving helments...they were worth a lot of money and I offered a lot of money for them but could not strike a deal..

I can only assume that they are also gone forever? Any one know it they were in the fire?

Dean, it wasn't the Old Mill that burned down. It was Don Eddies next door. Those old diving helmets have got to be somewhere.

I met Jonathan at the Fred Hall Show in Long Beach this year. Seems like a nice guy. He alternates with Gary Graham writing for WON, usually every other week. Some good stories and insight from someone who has been living and fishing in La Paz for many years.

We always had a great time stopping by Don Eddie's on our last night coming home. He always accommodated us in our pop up camper in one of his little RV stall, with hookups and everything. Had some great dinners and got plenty chit faced for the stumble back to the camper. Hope he gets back up and running.
